Shadow Minister - How wrong can you be?
Cindy was described by Saint Tony Jones on Q & A as an aboriginal Woman who had spent her entire life suffering racism in Australia. If Tone says it, backed by the richest Australian Media (ABC) then it must be true. AHRC - Dosn't that lovely old Pro Gillian Triggs run that? Mate you are totally beaten on this one. I would not be surprised if Cindy could not get a job out of this. Please do not say she could make a million dollars out of this because we all know that would not be enough to stop her leaping on another gravy train. One problem what if she goes the board of OLO on what you have said, never mind me. Posted by JBowyer, Monday, 29 August 2016 11:29:06 AM

Irrespective of the person or the circumstances, its dangerous and clutching at a type of confirmation bias to judge someone as fitting into a psychological category based on one diagnosis.
The field of psychology is regarded as a "soft science". Consequently, one should seek the professional opinions of at least 3 different suitably qualified psychologists before jumping to conclusions. Posted by Rojama, Monday, 29 August 2016 1:33:52 PM

Then demand another three, or as many as needed, until just one dissenting opinion is enough to 'challenge' the original assessment? A defence counsel would ask for that, but courts and tribunals look to expertise and evidence. Might as well wait for the outcome of the evidence in this case. However, in the interim there are also the rights of the students and the staff of QUT that appear to have been trampled over and surprise, surprise, but Gillian Triggs, President of the Human Rights Commission seems to have been involved. More on that later one would hope. Although from its past performance it wouldn't be the ABC that might be shining any light there though. Posted by onthebeach, Monday, 29 August 2016 1:55:33 PM

Perhaps Jayb would enlighten us about Cindy's mother? I do not believe the ABC would?
I think a full discussion on all this nonsense should not only be undertaken but our new senators can show us what they are made of? Posted by JBowyer, Monday, 29 August 2016 2:17:14 PM

I grew up with the Priors in Ayr. One of the notorious two Ladies in Townsville who run the Aboriginal Organizations under it's various names over the years. The ones where the Funds keep disappearing & they are alternately the President or Treasurer. Strange that. Neither have ever been convicted, after some very heavy negotiation that is. These two only have their own reputations at heart. A lot of mouth but never do anything for the Aboriginal People of Townsville really. Posted by Jayb, Monday, 29 August 2016 2:46:58 PM

Quote "but courts and tribunals look to expertise and evidence. "
I hope you don't mean experts like the FBI experts who effectively had hundreds of people convicted on testimony about hair samples. Evidence was the hair samples expertise was the FBI lab technicians courts, judges, lawyers and juries fell for the fiasco. http://news.nationalpost.com/news/world/fbi-admits-it-fudged-forensic-hair-matches-in-nearly-all-criminal-trials-for-decades The cases include those of 32 defendants sentenced to death. Of those, 14 have been executed or died in prison. So here alone we have 14 more than likely innocent people dead. Posted by Philip S, Monday, 29 August 2016 6:09:20 PM

Hi Rojama,
The Australian article on Saturday described the work at least three psychologists in Cindy Prior's case. After knocking around Indigenous affairs for fifty odd years, it's struck me again and again that many, many Indigenous people, especially (don't ask me how) those in 'management' [i.e. glorified clerical][ positions, are very paranoid to the point of being psychopathic. Maybe I'm unlucky but I never had a single decent Indigenous boss, every one being not only incompetent but usually very suspicious to the point of paranoia. They usually had the most basic knowledge of their supposed field of expertise, if that, and often used physical threats to get their way. I've toyed with the outrageous question that is it possible for an entire 'culture' to be sociopathic ? That intelligent people, en masse, can be at least slightly crazy ? That they can't tolerate the slightest criticism, or any ideas that are different. Everything is perceived as a threat. I lent a book on management to a friend who had worked in an Indigenous program, called something like 'Snakes in Suits', about how often managers are a bit psychopathic, and he laughed, rather bitterly, in recognition. Another Indigenous friend refers to Indigenous complainers like Cindy as having a 'little dog syndrome', that they have to bark and snarl at everyone, out of fear and resentment at the world, 'full of sound and fury but signifying nothing'. I'll bet that everyone who has worked with Indigenous bosses, so-called 'managers' who do nothing from one day to the next except fill a well-paid position, can tell many of the same stories, that their do-nothing performance, incompetence and bullying paranoia, all go together. Hi Jayb,
Yes, my bet is that, across Australia, there are thousands upon thousands of well-meaning people who have been bullied, screwed, dropped in the sh!t, perhaps again and again, and ultimately destroyed by Indigenous 'managers' and who still live on to tell others of their experiences. Well-meaning people, both Indigenous and non-Indigenous. But perhaps there is somebody out there who has had a good Indigenous boss ? Somebody ? Somebody who loved to go to work every day to work with a constructive and helpful Indigenous manager who had his or her own people at heart ? Constructive and helpful Indigenous managers who had their own people at heart, not just their own careers and the pecuniary interests of their family and mates ? Yeah, right. Cheers, Joe Posted by Loudmouth, Monday, 29 August 2016 11:02:17 PM

"The medical reports, introduced to the controversial case as formal public exhibits by the Queensland University of Technology employee and her Brisbane solicitor Susan Moriarty suggest Cindy Prior carries past grievances and overreacted to students’ Facebook posts.
Simone Shaw, a psychologist who conducted a long interview and examination, said in a 13-page report that Ms Prior was “unlikely to attribute personal responsibility to events that occur in her life”.
“As a result of this personality style, she is likely to blame and begrudge others when she perceives she has been mistreated, which appears evident in relation to the incident on 28 May, 2013,’’ Dr Shaw reported.
“She may be blindly uncritical of her own behaviour and insensitive to negative consequences associated with her behaviour, tending to minimise the negative impact that her behaviour has on others and on herself.
Dr Shaw said Ms Prior appeared to have had numerous workplace occurrences that she had perceived as bullying, harassment and racial vilification."
I believe that Cathy Prior is displaying the typical avaricious tendencies of faux professional victims, and that Australian law should not facilitate such greedy bludgers that care nothing for others.
