Where the most technologically advanced nation cannot solve the problems after decades of annual promises, one would be forgiven for thinking there might be some problems handling, transporting and storing nuke waste.

Amazing how Australian politicians can go to the US and after being feted and treated as an important dude by the US State Department, suddenly offer to take Uncle Sam's most toxic waste.

"Hey, just throw it all onto container ships, send it halfway around the world and lob in our backyard, OK?".

"Pleased to help and yes, the dumb-arsed Ozstarilian federal Parliament will always swallow the promises, just like Maralinga and other sites of nuke testing".

As for nuke waste being high profit business and it might even be used again, as if Uncle Same, the UK and other countries would be planning to dump it in Oz if there was any prospect of making a profit out of it.

The waste lasts forever. The political promises are short-term, easily made and easily broken.
