At least the science is genuine:
Synthesis and Characterization of Uranium(IV) Phosphate-Hydrogenphosphate Hydrate and Cerium(IV) Phosphate-Hydrogenphosphate Hydrate Article in Journal of Solid State Chemistry 178(4):1054-1063 · April 2005  A new uranium (IV) phosphate of proposed formula U-2(PO4)(2)(HPO4H2O)-H-., i.e. uranium phosphate-hydrogen phosphate hydrate (UPHPH), was synthesized in autoclave and in polytetrafluoroethylene closed containers at 150 degrees C by three ways: from uranium (IV) hydrochloric Solution and phosphoric acid, from uranium dioxide and phosphoric acid and by transformation of the uranium hydrogenphosphate hydrate U(HPO4)(2)(.)nH(2)O. The new product appears similar to the previously published thorium phosphate-hydrogenphosphate hydrate Th-2(PO4)(2)(HPO4H2O)-H-. (TPHPH). From preliminary studies, it was found that UPHPH crystallizes in monoclinic system (a = 2.1148(7) nm. -- Crown Uranium prospect (Crown Uranium group; Tenn-Cal ) www.mindat.org/loc-76998.html Crown Uranium prospect (Crown Uranium group; Tenn-Cal claims) Posted by nicknamenick, Wednesday, 24 February 2016 6:30:19 PM

Doesn't the radioactive waste from this stuff last for a thousand years
Or so, Leave it in the ground. , Posted by CHERFUL, Saturday, 27 February 2016 12:22:54 AM

Dear CHERFUL,
Some isotopes can last for billions of years. Did you know there have been over 2,000 nuclear detonations? We poor land locked creatures are being constantly bombarded by radiation. And if you're really unlucky you might get squashed by a meteor. Posted by Mr Opinion, Saturday, 27 February 2016 11:12:37 AM

The proposed 'dump' is not actually a dump; it is a facility that would take a decade or more to build - well beneath the ground. It the operation would even have its own exclusive port to take in the waste. SA certainly needs the money.

Where the most technologically advanced nation cannot solve the problems after decades of annual promises, one would be forgiven for thinking there might be some problems handling, transporting and storing nuke waste.
http://www.gao.gov/key_issues/disposal_of_highlevel_nuclear_waste/issue_summary Amazing how Australian politicians can go to the US and after being feted and treated as an important dude by the US State Department, suddenly offer to take Uncle Sam's most toxic waste. "Hey, just throw it all onto container ships, send it halfway around the world and lob in our backyard, OK?". "Pleased to help and yes, the dumb-arsed Ozstarilian federal Parliament will always swallow the promises, just like Maralinga and other sites of nuke testing". As for nuke waste being high profit business and it might even be used again, as if Uncle Same, the UK and other countries would be planning to dump it in Oz if there was any prospect of making a profit out of it. The waste lasts forever. The political promises are short-term, easily made and easily broken. Posted by onthebeach, Saturday, 27 February 2016 12:37:16 PM
