No party today holds a mortgage on a particular class
of worker any more.

Our jobs no longer define how we vote:

My apologies for the typo in my previous post.
I shall try again:

Hi Foxy, I believe the majority of Australian voters have become LESS conservative over the years. Since the Churches have less of a stranglehold on the way people think anymore, voters are more likely to think for themselves and not blindly follow one political party that they and their parents have followed for years.

Less conservative Liberal politicians like Malcolm Turnbull have become popular because they are not so rigidly following the conservative line.
Some old-fashioned conservative voters might not like this state of affairs but I think it is a sign that Australia is finally growing up and leaving the stuffy British form of politics behind.

Dear Suse,

I think that I'd agree with you.

Though our former Prime Minister insisted from
the start that there would be no wrecking or
undermining - he's kept on crossing the line
to vindictiveness. As a result although he
might have his hard-core supporters he has
certainly lost the support of the
essential community that even Kevin Rudd had
when he was deposed. So writes Barrie Cassidy.

Even John Howard has told Mr Abbott to stop
criticising the New Prime Minister.

It seems that Tony Abbott has destroyed the trust
and the "conservative advantage" for his party:

Sure enough it always ends up with Fox, 'It's Abbott, Abbott, Abbott!'

and

Anglophobe Suseonline 'dissing' at least one of her three pet hatreds, this time Australia's political inheritance from the UK.
