Good or bad idea?
Why would police need to carry in the Court Room?

Do any of the complaining judges and lawyers have any relevant training and practical experience to make them expert witnesses on security and dealing with violent offenders? What about maintaining public order?

Honestly, how stupid can some judges and lawyers be to imagine that an attack is less likely where the court is less protected (disarmed, defenceless police) and conversely, attacks are more likely where police are wearing their regulation side arms? Say what?!

It is the lunacy of 'Gun Control' that says that the court is safer because police are disarmed. Disarm the good guys, that sure makes sense (NOT).

Public safety is assured by regulating the person not the tool.

The complaining lawyers reckon that sophisticated scanning (eg body scan) equipment can be installed outside all court rooms and all other access blocked off. What about cost, privacy, fire risk etc etc?

Of course the other side of the coin is that left-leaning beaks and defence lawyers may see those in the dock and their boisterous supporters who may just happen to bring their (ahem) tools of trade with them as poor unfortunates, discriminated against by society (it IS society's fault!) and falsely arrested by those mean police.

By that logic the courts are there to release those regrettably taken by the [insert profanities*] police. So there is no harm likely to the judge and defending lawyers. If the police and members of the public come to harm so what?

To my knowledge Australia is one of the few jurisdictions in the Western World where police are not armed in court ?

Wouldn't it be wonderful if we had judges who had grown up before being appointed.
