Kerry O'Brien's interview with Kevin Rudd tonight demonstrated real unbiased attitudes that should permeate the whole culture of our ABC.

Kevin Rudd was visibly squirming in his chair under the revelation of his wife who employes 220 people,was seriously under paying her workers.

Perhaps Kevin is entitled to plead ignorance in regards his wife's business dealings,however the values and attitudes which they share on a daily basis really reflects their general attitudes towards our society.

Kevin's mentality was clearly laid bare as nothing more than just another cynical political opportunist.He is not a man of integrety and substance that he seeks to portray.

Kevin and partner should have resolved the issue before he entered politics. She has every right to a career and to own a business but even the best run business can be a liability for a partner in politics.
If this had been the Coalition (or any minor political partner holding the balance of power somewhere) the ALP would be demanding the immediate resignation of the office holder. However, as they have made very clear, the same rules do not apply to them.

but wouldn't it be a total tragedy...if Kerry joined the Labor party, and then, like Peter Garret suddenly had to put aside those things about which he has been passionate for so long in the interests of 'The Party'!

Kerry does indeed stand out... head and shoulders above many others.

Political Membership/candidacy would destroy his clear message to the community.

Therese Rein's business is an employment agency and does get a lot of funding from the Federal Govt.Having the right contacts in Govt does push you further up the line in terms of selectivity.Why does the McQuarie Bank employ Bob Carr as a consultant?It certainly isn't for his business prowess.To get a Govt contract is no easy matter but the financial renumeration is well worth it since price is not always the determining factor in winning the contract.

If Kevin Rudd does become Prime Minister,then Therese will have to relinguish her Govt contracts to keep her business or sell the business.Her decision will reflect the degree to which the success of her business depends upon Govt finances.Interesting times are ahead of us.

One of the things I find most interesting is the other double standard.

Remember how labor screamed their opposition to private employment agencies, & the job network replacing the old Commonwealth Employment agency? They hated it as much as work choices. It was an implement of the devil, designed to rip off the workers.

Interesting to see who's doing the ripping off, isn't it?

& then they expect us to believe a word they say! Right!!
