The Government claim to be giving refugees in the community slightly less than what they give Australian citizens - the Dole.

Now from the ministers mouth on Monday Quote.
"These packages are a small fraction of the cost of supporting an asylum seeker in the community on a bridging visa, estimated at an average of $45,000 per year."

There is a big difference between $45,000 and the dole.
What else are they getting?
What are the hidden costs?

That quote was from "Mr Morrison on 2GB Radio Monday "

Lol!...as if anything Morrison spouts could be taken as "absolute proof".

This guy either feeds us absolute bollocks (as in his remarks directly in the wake of the Manus attacks)...or he seeks to suppress what's really happening.

Maybe you can drag out another source with a little more veracity?

‘morning Philip S,

“Absolute” wow! “Proof” wow, “SMH” wow, “Fairfax”, wow! Sensational.

Well, there you have it?

Phillip, why did you fail to mention the last paragraph from the article by Sarah Whyte in the link you provided?

“On Monday a Greens-led moratorium on deporting Iraqi asylum seekers back to Iraq failed in the Senate”.

Oh yes, I keep forgetting. Selective sourcing from your self referential network. Great analysis though and I have to admire the way you carefully avoided any critical thinking or original thought.

Well done.

I'd take an educated guess...

>>...the cost of supporting an asylum seeker in the community on a bridging visa, estimated at an average of $45,000 per year.<<

...that a good percentage of that is taken up by the salaries of taxpayer-funded paper-pushers in various government departments.

Poirot - Quote "Maybe you can drag out another source with a little more veracity?" Why just to satisfy your ego, another source is not required for anyone with a brain the simple fact he has stated that the "cost of supporting an asylum seeker in the community on a bridging visa, estimated at an average of $45,000 per year" is far more than slightly less than the Dole which the Government claim that is all they are given.

spindoc - I did not mention that because it has no relevance to the amount given to refugees, but I am sure you know that but are just being belligerent.

As per the rest of what you say I am stating facts from the person responsible for those matters.
Please explain how you can incorporate "critical thinking" into the comments.

Pericles - Probably right, to me it indicates something is very wrong.

Hi PhillipS,

Another thing you didnt pick-up on and which isn't factored into the costs/benefits is that a number of our best educational institutions have special reserved places for "refugees".

If you are a "refugee" just follow the red carpet.

PS Dont worry about Poirot no amount of reasoning would ever change her.
