Dear Shadow Minister,

“If your sister believed that the measure of government competence was it's handouts and that by voting for the liberals would reverse this then she is indeed logically challenged.”

Please don't be telling anyone what their thoughts are without knowing the facts.

My sister works on a very tight budget and when Gillard changed the single parent rules she immediately lost $100 from that budget. While $100 per week might not be much for you it certainly impacted her. What incensed her most was how little warning she had. When you commit yourself to a mortgage or even activities for your son you do so based on your budget.

There is no way in the world she expected to receive that money back through voting Liberal and she would have been aware that they were going to cut the school kids bonus but she did take Abbott at his word that he was committed to school funding and that there would be no new taxes. For most single parents the idea of sending their child to a private school is out of the question so stripping billions of dollars from the school system and walking away from Gonski is a huge issue.

But on the question of handouts, most of my sister's siblings, get more handed out from the government in the form of negative gearing on rental properties and capital gains relief on shares than she is getting to assist her bringing up a young Australian. I happen to think those are skewed priorities. Don't you?

It does appear that both Mr Abbott and Joe Hockey
are currently copping a massive public backlash.

However, just a reminder - polls fluctuate regularly,
and our previous PM's, Keating, Howard, and Fraser
were all intensely disliked at various times but they
did come back at election time so we shouldn't take
anything for granted.

We're told by some experts that
there may still be time for Mr Abbott to turn public
perceptions around. That all re-elections happen on a rising
economy. But whether Mr Abbott and his team can get the
budget in order, before they can create an election campaign
based on big policies, remains to be seen.

Voters like politicians who give them hope. At present there's
not too much of that being given. And that needs to change.

The disgraceful attacks on Mr Abbott's wife and family that were a feature of the Gillard/Greens government have continued unabated. It is what the self-described 'Wolves in Sheep's Clothing' - the political 'Progressives' who took over the Labor Party - do best.

Australians have fought against oppressors in world wars and many of the migrants who were welcomed here fled totalitarian governments. Australians old and new certainly do not wish to be under the Jack Boot of the International Socialism promoted by ambitious, egocentric manipulators like Gillard and now Shorten.

Remember the Class and Gender Wars of Ms Gillard and her crew? Five minutes back in government and the same old nasty stuff from Labor and the Greens would be on again.

If you know there is no case to answer for, let the rest of us know.
Where there is smoke there is fire, it is an amazing coincidence, you must admit.

Beach, <<Australians old and new certainly do not wish to be under the Jack Boot>> a bit rich for a supporter of one, Jim Saleam, and The Australia First Party. << 'Wolves in Sheep's Clothing' - the political 'Progressives' who took over the Labor Party>> Oh! your back on, quoting that international conspiracy nonsense, don't forget to mention the Fabians, and how they are out to kidnap the children.
Can I have that link to your Miss Marple character again, the "interview" was so funny, I couldn't stop laugh'n!

There will always be those who will partake in
political infantile finger-pointing and gross
personal attacks - on all sides
of politics. Let us not forget the
personal attacks that were made by the current
government when in opposition - on our previous PM.

This is the sort of behaviour that we as voters should not
be willing to accept from any of our politicians.
Without the attributes of fair play and integrity, our
society is in grave danger. Where malice and
intolerance stalks our society, staking claim to
our minds - it strikes at the heart of democracy.
Winning at someone else's expense is an old paradigm
and an increasingly obsolete model of success.

We should make it quite clear to those who we elect
to represent us in government that we do expect them not
to lie to us. That we do expect them to keep their
core election promises, especially the ones that will
affect our lives. And that we do expect them to be more
civil and co-operative with each other in decisions that
affect the nation. It is no wonder that at present voters
are dissatisfied. They are disappointed with the current
state of our political leadership. Rightly so.
