The news of an eco-tourism and “scientific” PR stunt to Antarctica on the Russian M.V. Akademik Shokalskiy research ship cannot go unmolested. Ostensibly this was a trip to follow the route of Douglass Mawson of 100 years ago and is led by climate activist scientist Chris Turney of the University of NSW.

Its seems irony is having a great belly chuckle at both the antics and stupidity of these eco-warriors in their quest for some good news about Antarctic ice. I cannot resist joining in the mirth.

The research ship locked in by “summer” Antarctic ice?
Rescue ship, the Chinese icebreaker Snow Dragon is now also ice bound.
Eco-Tourists paid up to $18,800 each.
Two weeks food supplies left”
Vegan food the first to go?
May have to be evacuated by Helicopter?
This “ice” has meant the scientists had to cut down their research program?
Twitter pic’s, show everyone having an $18,800 ball sitting on the Err? Oh yes, ICE.

What can one say? Ha ha ha ha, ho ho ho, he he he!

I guess this will all be “explained” in due course (sic).

Some excuses are already emerging. It’s not ICE silly, it’s “most likely due to changing ice patters in the region”. It’s not ICE silly, it’s “predominance of unbroken fast ice”. It’s not ICE silly, it’s a “a 75-mile-long iceberg called B09B grounded itself in the entrance to Commonwealth Bay”. This great big iceberg is not made of ICE silly, it’s made of frozen water.

One thing we can all be sure of is there will be no irony, no embarrassment and no shame.

For many others like me it will be the funniest “home video” story of the year, I still can’t stop the tears of laughter rolling down my cheeks.

Congratulations Turney and thank you so much the “Larfs”.

Yep! I mused about that too: How was it that with all the Antarctic rapidly warming and its ice degraded due to AGW, did these climate experts equipped with cutting edge modelling and weather prediction technology, get caught in the ice?

Can't recall anything about Douglass Mawson's ship being ice bound --last time I heard anything similar was with King Canute!

But never-mind, sooner of later the usual suspects will come up with some link from the ABC or New Matilda telling why it is so.

I agree!
You just gotta laugh at the flimsy non existing evidence you blokes clutch to fight the truth.
Man made climate change is truth.
And for me, a cheeky old codger at best a vision in my mind of you three paper bags over your heads so you can not see any truth is fun.
Have a great new year blokes and get rid of the head gear.

Why is the sea ice so far away from where it is supposed to be. Has it got something to do with the thaw rate, making the ocean that cold a change in the wind and the whole thing freezes.
Lets remember the patterns of extreme events around the world is the new norm.

As Maxwell Smart would say: "Aaaah! Kaos's old cover all clause!"

If it is too hot it must be AGW
If it is too cold it must be AGW
Only if it is Goldilocks-like just right, can it be said to have nothing to do with AGW.
