It is astounding that claimed animal protectionists and the lunar Greens would prefer and promote the use of the fearful poison 1080 above the selective humane culling of certified "R" licensed shooters. As for the effectiveness of rangers and of closing off national parks, in the relatively short time that has been policy the bush reserves have been over-run by feral animals and exotic weeds. The dangerous, wild dog packs that are now common along (say) the north coast of NSW breed prolifically in national parks.
The lunar Greens argue that feral pest animals such as foxes should now be regarded as part of Australia's fauna. So too the exotic weeds?
