In answer to part of the initial question about thembeing repealed. From one of the Courier Mail links "The two-day forum has been targeted by violent protests when hosted by other cities. The new powers will extend to the days either side of the event."

If that is as it reads the extra powers only apply for a very limited period - I'd take that as 4 days. Not sure if it needs to be repealed, once the nominated period is over the extra powers are no longer available.

Does anyone have reason to believe it's otherwise?

Not that government or the police have ever needed extra powers, as any who can remember the treatment of peaceful university students who were lawfully protesting the Vietnam War in marches for which they had been required to obtain prior approval.

ROBert/quot<<..If that is as it reads..
the extra powers only apply for a very limited period>>

rest assured..it will
last as long..as the appeals progress in court

[if you recall bloombergs stop/search law
abused thousands.for 5 years]...before the high court ruled it unconstitutional

never the less
millions got stopped..under a lie
..

the usual thing is arrest..
and put an order..on the 'person'
to stay..a specified distance away

though usually..they just pick me up
and lock me away..[in a police car]..or other side of town..till the queen went away

<<- I'd take that as 4 days.>>

for the law
but how long for police to let the new controls[powers]..they THINK..they have/..till one honest lawyer points out they do

sure if its written..into..the act[usually]..but is it?
but how about mindsets..programed..by 'special/super powers

absolute power corrupts absolutely

it..SHOULDNT..need to be repealed,
it..SHOULD have a close off clause..[but does it?]

<<..once the nominated period is over
the extra powers are no longer available.>>..LEGALLY

but police can..*ONLY act lawfully*

1*the laws of standing..need an injured party*
2*and contract..or civil-law..which..NEEDS informed consent*

<<..Does anyone have reason..to believe it's otherwise?e..<<..

"I live in Cairns where we have a huge problem with indigenous people camping in CBD parks and gardens. Are they going to try and make them move or just shoot them as potential terrorists?"

Ahahaha yeah ... glad to see this place hasn't changed. Best one I've read all week.

No-one really believes that any indigenous would be shot. That was hyperbole.

It is possibly another thread, but the poster concerned was correct in saying, "We have police now that cannot cope with the indigenous population so when the G20 mob come here all hell will break out".

His is just one of many Councils that have become exasperated by the lawlessness, violence and disgusting behaviour of indigenous people. Darwin is another prime example. No doubt the Left hanky-wringers will attempt to rationalise that as being caused by 'disadvantage', an excuse that has worn paper thin over decades. It is quite apparent to local government though that it is federal government policy that is at fault.
