As one political commentator stated:
"The sexism was not imagined by Gillard, and it
was not isolated. Her time in office revealed
the shameful depths of some people's fear and
loathing of women. Much of her treatment in
office has been breathtakingly foul. What can
be possibly said to women who roiled in
disgust at the open sexism designed to demean
Australia's first female prime minister and
leach her legitimacy?"
They are valid and important questions.
Political ommentators continue to tell us,
"a great part of modern
Australia - in the media, the political class, and
the general public - clearly cannot cope with
having a female leader."
Of course others things also came into play
with Gillard.
However, although Kevin Rudd may have to wear the
same condemnation for his long-term destablising
actions. None of it will have anything to do
with his gender, because as commentators agree,
"Some things never change."
