Mr Opinion,

I have to take exception to your attack on Poirot, when you claim:

"I'm not a biased cheerful robot incapable of critical thought like most people."

Even people incapable of critical thought are entitled to express their opinions in a relatively free society, even if you or I might feel offended by the shallowness of those opinions.

Joe

There are plenty of those on OLO and I don't have to name names for you to work out who they are.
Mr Opinion,
Yes, you're one of their prime examples.

If Labor wants to pull a swifty on the conservatives all they have to do is change jockeys, take Gillard off the nag and leg Rudd up. Do it at the right time and the Rudd honeymoon will run, usually for 100 days, Abbott wouldn't know what to do. Presto Labors back in with an increased majority. Assuming Rudd wants to do his "mates" a favor.

Rudd has a messianic appeal that Julia Gillard lacks,he's eccentric enough to get people's attention and I reckon he could pull off another draw, if not a narrow win.
The Age were trying to spin the PM as "Churchillian" yesterday, which she's absolutely not, she's too safe and too political, she's Eisenhower, not Winnie.
It's just interesting to me that the leadership is now being discussed in heroic terms because I find it hard to believe that Australians genuinely desire political leadership.
Australia doesn't breed such people for a start and the population lack the imagination to sustain even a popular movement much less a cult of personality.
Bob Brown had the same messianic appeal but the cult was always a bit awkward and a bit embarassing as was the Kevin 07 crowd, the people imagine that they want a European style candidate but they really lack the self confidence to see the process through.
