i recall my 4th job..scrapping the decaying salty fat of greasy smelly hides..it consisted of turning arround..as fast as possible..

at the beginning of the day..they said it will take x men..to do the job..in 8 hours..so the total pool of cash we will pay to clean them to standard will be xxx..payable upon completion

we got in and did a ten hour day in 5 hours
then ..the boss was happy chroming the hides on scedual..and the factory run on time..all the time.

we finished ahead of time everytime
and no one was a fin..but we knew the boss cared..[be it for his own reasons..we found that bit extra..[time and motion couldnt explain it..we sang as we worked..the chinese came and studied how we 'did' it

in the main it was because the fleshers..helped get the hides onto the table..because we were the key..and worked too fast for those extracting the hides from the spillway..so instead of waiting for them to do their job..we helped others do theirs.

this is what any good boss does
and for those who dont..
well let them whinge complain and go broke

A way I once and the boss,sat down and messured productivity.
No Guns involved.
No black masks, the boss left the Halo at home two.
First in measuring productivity you must do more than pluck a figure out of the air.
The KPI,s usually include, lost time injureys,sick days not planned, unavoidable plant break downs.
Product not produced right /repeat work needed.
So see this is a complex issue,KPI can be is, in fact to each thing that effects work and out puts.

One that RIGHTLY says we are working unpaid hours, usually do you know why?
A commitment to the job,a wish to by your efforts progress, in the job.

Belly, I have never had a single unionistnwork for me in any of my five shops, over a period of twenty three years. Not a single one.

Didn't need a union, as we, myself and my workers, would always come to an arrangement that was fair for both.

Many such arrangements existed, but unfortunately, labor don't like every day people working out what best suits them, as they need to be involved, you know, fix something that's not broken.

Now as for declining productivity, I am simply stating what has been said, and I am confused as to how this can be, when we are supposedly working extra hours.

That's all, no malis, just a simply question, cause it simply does not make sense to me how we can on the one hand be over worked, yet on the other achieve less output.

Now which part of that is unreasonable.
