Belly,
I see, it's ok for others to insult our decency but it's wrong to react to others' lack of it ?
I find it insulting in the extreme the way I am being treated by our authorities & what they're doing to our society. You may well feel pleased about it but I & many others who care are deeply offended. It's up to your conscience who you want to support.

Philip S, I think the critical question is: why is the mining tax not generating any income at the moment and why are the projections of the revenue it is supposed to generate being progressively lowered?

Gillard and her government desire to do something meaningful in the interests of securing a healthy future for our country. The carbon tax and the MRRT are fundamentally good moves in the right direction. However, the government is hopelessly compromised by the real power base: big business, which will only condone these moves if they don’t significantly affect their profit margins.

So we simply get good initiatives being watered down into uselessness and which end up as no more than token efforts.

If our governmental system was set up so that there was a much better level of independence from the pressures of big business, we’d have a meaningful effort moving us way from our addiction to fossil fuels and onto renewable energy sources, a much better return from our mineral wealth to us the ordinary people, and a genuine move towards a sustainable society.

I think that the will is largely there within the current government, but that they are simply unable to exercise it to any meaningful extent.

Firstly they called the tax the RSPT and then changed it to the MRRT, I think they should rename the MRRT after those that negotiated it. The "IDIOT" tax has a nice ring.

For those that think 3 months is not enough to predict that Swan will not get $2bn this year, need to explain then why 1 month is sufficient to calculate company tax payments.

The rotting carcass of the Federal government and their cronies certainly has the smell of decay, but the stench of failure will benchmark them in the history books.

MMRT………….FAIL
FUELWATCH………….FAIL
GROCERYWATCH………….FAIL
PINK BATTS………….FAIL
BER………….FAIL
SOLAR………….FAIL
SCHOOL COMPUTERS………….FAIL
INDIGENOUS HOUSING………….FAIL
INDIGENOUS HEALTH………….FAIL
SUPERCLINICS………….FAIL
FEDERAL HOSPITALS………..FAIL
CHILDCARE CENTRES………….FAIL
AGED CARE BEDS………….FAIL
TRADE TRAINING CENTRES………….FAIL
BOARDER SECURITY………….FAIL
NBN………….FAIL
BALANCE BUDGET………….FAIL

Then you have the ALP’s triumphs:

IMPLIMENT CARBON TAX………..TRIUMPH
RECORD DEFICIT………..TRIUMPH
OPEN BOARDERS………..TRIUMPH
RECORD FOOD IMPORTS………..TRIUMPH
LAND FOREIGN OWNERSHIP………..TRIUMPH
WIVES TRAVEL FREE………..TRIUMPH

By the look of the triumphs you would have to say that the ALP is working for the Global banksters, the United Nations and the airlines.
Gillard just lies when it suits her, her governments morality gives support to the likes of Slipper and Thompson who are morally bankrupt. This week Carr’s use of taxpayers’ funds to pay for his second honeymoon shows the contempt they hold for the electorate. They hate us and we are growing to hate them, something new in Australian politics if you discount Labors history of faction fighting.

Luddy, & here I was thinking you were a reasonably smart bloke.

"Gillard and her government desire to do something meaningful in the interests of securing a healthy future for our country", you've got to be kidding. The only thing meaningful for her is to sleep in the lodge, & never work again. The bunch of hangers on with her will never be able to see past a dollar sign, & the rest of the harpies in the womens section, [wash my mouth out, I almost said ladies], are about the most viscous nest of vipers I have ever seen.

And to think I thought Richardson was a disgusting con man, hell he's a nursery rhyme character to this lot. In fact I think he way have almost reformed, something that even 6ft of earth would not achieve with the dregs in there now.

Yes I know you're a recovering greenie, but I'm starting to think your relapsing. Do be careful, or your recovery will fail.

579 - Quote "Three months is hardly enough time to calculate anything"

Please be so kind as to 1st read post, 2nd activate brain (so you understand what you have read), 3rd then comment.

I will repeat my question so you can more closely follow the above steps before putting foot in mouth.
Quote
"Exactly how many high paid bureaucrats and lower paid pen pushers in Canberra and around the country are employed by whatever department is responsible for this project of yours?"
Even if the figure collected was a few million I would like to know how many actual people were being employed to implement and keep the scheme running.
