Steven, in parts, not just far out back, ABC is all you can get.
And radio Australia, much like the BBC service during ww2, is much needed. We however do not need the double standards. Leave our biases at the front desk, and consider the very worst our media can give us. Alan Jones, not a bad start for such a discription, saying Gillards dad died of shame. How low can the bloke go? I must, yes must, refrain from talking of his sexual biases. His bitter focused but untrue womanish [at its worst] rants, why can he/it use our media without fear? Can not help noticing Liberal/Conservatives are not posting in threades that highlight such as Alan Jones miss stake.
I watched most of his sorry but,yes he too had buts, and still listening to him. Media watch, has in this instant let me down. As I have said in threads before, our media has many views, but not always linked to truth. Mr Alan Jones has many supporters, SOME not aware of his own issues in regard to sexual activity. Now notice I dare not say it? Dare not, but he, because he is who he is, can say as he wishes. Are we, the whole of the Australian community, on thin ice if we only see the other sides wrongs not our side, is accountability a tool worth owning? Or will lies do? I infer no crime or wrong in Jones sexual bent, but ask why at a time same sex weddings are asked for he needs protecting. Posted by Belly, Sunday, 30 September 2012 12:09:01 PM

I am on th record I do now like, trust, want, support Gillard. But too, in insisting the ALP despite its actions in over throwing Rudd, can and will reform. It remains my view Gillard can never lead to an ALP election win. But we must confront, remember NO ONE knew on my posting this thread, about the impending revelation of Jones mind snap. Our media, at a time the print media is challenged just to survive, must be more accountable in its REPORTING not MANUFACTURING news. We are on the edge of very interesting times, Abbott is no certainty to lead much longer. Gillard can not, on election day, bank on any anti Abbott swing, he may be replaced. We just can not avoid this truth, comment disguised as reporting is not news. Posted by Belly, Sunday, 30 September 2012 12:43:25 PM

Abbott stepped up to the mark, as did most of his team.
Well done. But will the media get the message? We can only hope so, evidence to defame both or any leader can be found without misleading and hate such as this. Posted by Belly, Sunday, 30 September 2012 4:43:25 PM

If it wasn't for the ABC there wouldn't be an ALP. I wonder though why we don't hear anything about the ABC come ALP wonder woman Maxine McKew.
Anyone know where ex ABC pro ALP personalities hang out when the artificial praises stop ? Posted by individual, Sunday, 30 September 2012 9:52:08 PM

If commercial channels had offerings as self-critical as media watch is (occasionally) of ABC I would be impressed, not at the effort which would still be pathetic, but at the adoption of the concept.
