Are you thoroughly sick of politicians bickering like bad-mannered, school children?

I've never been able to watch parliament in session for more than 30 minutes at a time, before tuning out in disgust. Nowdays i'm lucky if I can stand 10 minutes of their 'discussions'.

Sign my petition if you want our politicians to have conversations that Make A Difference to Australians, and Produce Results, not conversations that get no-where.

Sign if you want our politicians to act with:

Dignity,
Respect,
Intentionality (to produce positive results)

KarlettaA

Unless you are in favour of children getting a smack for insolence or rebellion it is far to late for them to change their natures as adults without great difficulty. Personally I am more insulted by being told lies, hypocrisy and sleazy deals.

That is called the democratic process, The petitioner should tell us what she expects from parliamentary debate.

Let me guess.

The petition asks us to...

"Sign if you want our elected politicians to take yearly, mandatory, practical, interactive classes in:
Conflict Resolution,
Emotional Intellegence [sic],
Communication,
Listening for Values and Committments [sic],
Empathy"

I wonder, I asked myself, what business KarlettaA might run... surely it couldn't be running "Effective Communication and Listening" workshops, could it?

Oh, so it is.

Good luck with the project, Karletta. At $210 per head, 150 Reps in the lower house... that's thirty grand a year for starters. Then there's all the State Parliaments, they need to mend their manners too. Nice way to make a buck.

Don't fancy your chances raising their EQ, though, in this lifetime. You don't get where they are by having any of that fancy-schmancy stuff.

Just before we went to Canberra on the 12th Sept to disrupt Parliament on the CO2 tax, I did a general discussion thread asking for more people to join us.Graham Young rejected this non profit thread/post as spam. What would you call this thread?

I a lifetime student of politics am avoiding the thread.
In the nicest way it is possible, I charge the author with being part of the problem not the solution.
Question is there any understanding of what is taking place, petty issues?
And why this post, is it just an attempt rather than debate an issue to use us to push this wheel barrow?
We have, such as Britain, a fiery rude Parliament.
The issues?
Lets judge on people with understandings views not this junk.

Well, a "Forum Software" upgrade at a $ is within the realms of possibilities, to include more interesting information tools such as polls. Thus, OLO of the time would be capable of holding mini polls, screening users etc etc smilies ...

" ... Don't fancy your chances raising their EQ, though, in this lifetime. You don't get where they are by having any of that fancy-schmancy stuff. ... "

Oh, come now, the slight variations of the *British System* arguably provide for a better quality of speech and debate, do they not?

And in the instance of a *New System Altogether* well, ...

..

I am not oft to be found applauding *Tony Abbott* though I wish to say I did enjoy his "coolness" whilst *Juliar Geelar* was *iMMOLATINg* over his refusal to participate in the Malaysian swap deal, and her particular concept of what constitutes "The National Interest."

HaHaHa

I have for more than 10 years given up cigarettes, but I do upon reflection regret taking them up at all, as as a consequence I let my physical fitness go to.

. kEVIn .

But is a mere *mINISTEr* (even with sufficient support) up to the job, that is the question?

Given the nature of "Australian Wigus Parasitus," and that is to say that there may be no discretionary power for the relevant Minister to release any Indonesian children in detention as part of a cultural and diplomatic exchange which would additionally secure the release of our latest "feral child at large in Bali" out side the confines of the pre-existing law.

..

Without a great long tirade, I can say confidently that in my limited experience of living in some parts of Indonesia, that I believe that the Indonesians also have a great tenderness within them, and are capable of a forgiving compassion, especially in regards to their children, by way of a "discretionary power."

And in relation to Australian children they likely would be more understanding if they were offered for consideration greater insight into what occurs amongst some of our school children with their *WeeD & DexiE* habits, amongst other things.

And of course that mixed with Kuta Indonesia and you have an "intoxicating cocktail" where it comes as no surprise that drug use occurs.

..

I know not the truth of it by my own senses, but I have heard it said that there are a great many cameras in Kuta that see a great many things and the short of it is this, is it really fair to single out so few for punishment, when there are so many offenders, and where the very shared memorials become sites to score?

Hmmm ..

..

Of course, *Lizzy Winza* is coming to town though isn't she, and of course she does have a variety of amazing powers to facilitate arrangements involving difficult children, (HaHaHa) and all factors considered, that may help to " ... Balance out the Books. ... "

You may have given up cigarettes
but from your posts it looks like
you've taken up something a bit stronger.

Go have a nice lie down and don't
post until you're more coherent.

Good on you Lexi,
I often wonder what some of these posters are smoking at times.....however I will continue with my self-imposed neglect of posting on all things political, unless, of course, they, the members of the lower house decide to acquire some decorum and construct some real policies (that Mr. Abbott doesn't belittle each time).
Enjoy your weekend Lexi.

Nice try *Lexie* but when you can actually make a valid and constructive criticism based on fact, I am usually ready to respond. I suspect that you understand me all too well and rather simply do not like what I have said. This is a common response.

Likewise for *Belly* if you don't understand something, and I note that I do not generally write for ESL learners, simply ask for clarification, and you may be pleased to know that I am very likely happy to comply.

Further for *Belly* I can assure you that since creating the *DreamOn* account that I have used no other whilst writing occassionally here at OLO and am not active politically at all excepting the occassional posting here of my views on this and that.

..

As for the young bloke in Bali, I hope that he is not falling foul of the ALP/Liberal/National parties fettish of abusing children, which includes Indonesian children incidentally.

You may all rest assured that if the Indonesians are sick of you locking up their misguided minors without charge or detention in circumstances known to produce adverse mental health outcomes then they are well capable of addministering an "eye for eye mentallity" and I remind readers that Indonesian Consulate officials have asked in quite recent times for their kids to be released.

they have my sympathies and support in that and if it were my choice I would certainly oblige them.

You see, these kind of cases are best resolved by way of the discretionary power and an on the spot fine before you get to the police station, which begs the question in my mind as to why they decided to target an Australian minor, as indeed some of the Bali Kuta Beach sellers are police set ups, at least according to local Indonesian people that I have spoken to.

But once you've been charged, not to mention the glare of the media spot light and international political representations, then the mechanations of the law are to take their course.

..

Which brings us back to a "prisoner swap."
