I can't choose when to die no matter how ill.
When I do die I cant donate my body without my family's OK ?
The wealth I've accumulated I cant distribute as I wish for fear that I may be "unfair".

Say in your will that if they block your organ donation they get nothing. And euthanasia is just a fancy name for suicide. There are 'good' ways to suicide if it gets that bad.

StG, many people won't be reading their dying loved one's wills before they actually die...at least before the medical staff are able to obtain the organs needed before they are too damaged.

Euthanasia is often requested when the sick person is no longer physically and/or mentally able to carry out a 'good way' to commit suicide themselves.

What then?

Make it clear what your wishes are before you get beyond it. This is the entire problem with organ donation. Talk to your family YEARS before and let them know about the will. I believe WA is considering/doing the 'opt out' option. Bravo for them.

I think that everyone has a point where they'd make a stand and damn the consequences. Ending the suffering of your loved one might be yours.

...and I don't disagree with the original poster, just to clarify. It's ridiculous that this stuff happens. I don't think we can blame the medical community for the problem with euthanasia, although they are hypocritical, they have an obligation to preserve life. On the one hand they perform abortions, but they can't end suffering?. But, much like the Police. It's not up to them to decide when it's "too hard". It's a government issue.

Its not that they can't take you organs, its that they don't want to get into a fight with relatives and come out the bad guys.
If legislation said that the donor registry trumped relatives then there would be less of a fight (dead people have no human rites)
