To listen to the interview http://www.2gb.com/ Click on presenters and Ray's home page. There is no direct link. The gist of Baer's expose is that the USA is broke and will retreat to it's borders, thus leaving a power vacuum in in the Middle East.Israel feeling more insecure will attack Iran thus causing an oil crisis sending the West into a prolonged depression. Here we are seeing the rationalle for attacking Iran based on our possible future economic pain.

Iran is painted as the pariah by Baer, being a new global super power without a nuclear weapon.Looking at Baer's comments on Hardtalk 24/7/08 they contradict what he is now saying.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRGsv9_ZxL8 Here Baer says that Iran is no threat at all and has no desire to acquire nuclear weapons.

Admiral Mullen the Chairmen of the joint chiefs of staff also says that Iran is no threat.

If Israel attack Iran, they have the capacity to stop vast quantities of oil coming from the Middle East.China gets 10% of it's oil from Iran and Iran has serious conventional weapon capacity. This will not be like attacking Iraq.Iran has the backing of China and Russia.

Israel has hundreds of nukes,so why does Israel feel so threatened and why the urgency?

arjay I use glasses when on line.
But never needed them to know you threads was from you.
Ray is a red neck and a fool.
It is clear America and Israel are targeting that nation run by idiots who hold a largely unhappy people prisoner.
Surely not this time?
Iraq, Afghanistan, tragic mistakes who have we helped?
Why invade why bomb.
America played a big part in the Russian defeat in Afghanistan, without great loss of its troops.
Why not use the unhappy prisoners of the idiotic fools ruining Iran?
Keep away from red neck fools they tend to send others sons a daughters to die in fights locals do not help much with.

StG you need to view the full context of what Ahmadinejad said.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahmoud_Ahmadinejad_and_Israel
He was in fact quoting Khomeini who said that the ruling regieme in Israel must disappear thus giving liberty to the Palistinians. There was no implication of aggression.

Baer says that Ahmadinejad is not really in control and Iran has a Polit Bureau like the communists.Who really has the the record for aggression on this planet? The USA fought Nth Korea,Vietnam, Iraq,Afghanistan,Pakistan and interferred with the politics in dozens of countries.Who has Iran invaded recently?

Belly, Robert Baer was recommended by Nick Caldis the Deputy Commissioner of Special Forces in NSW .So here we have a Govt official singing the praises of Baer.

Arjay,

No, of course, you're right. Iran and its glorious leaders are the shining beacon for all that's good in this world. I pray that one day we get to live under Sharia as it's so progressive and welcoming to all ways of life and trains of thought. The freedom of press in Iran is something our media should strive for and I for one cannot wait to see first hand the stoning to death of mothers in the street.

What we need to do is take the head off of Iran and let civil war implode it.

STG .You are sounding like a war mongerer.Using your logic w should be attacking Zimbabwe and 100 other countries.

Google Robert Baer 911 youtube.
Here we hear Thom Hartman's inteview.

Thom; Are you of the personal opinion that there there was an aspect of inside job to 911?

Baer; There is that possibility. The evidence points to it.

Thom; Why is it not being investigated?

Baer; Why isn't the WMD story being investigated? Why hasn't anyone been held accountable for 911? I mean people were held accountable for for Pearl Harbour. Why has there been no change in command? Why has there been no political repercussions? Why has there been any sort of political exposure on this? It really makes you wonder.

So here we have the contradiction of a high profile person whose credibility being underscored by our Govts and the security industry saying the very basis for attacking all these countries is seriously suspect.

Now Baer ignores these facts and exhorts the invasion of Iran as a solution.Where did you leave your logic StG?
