i've been coming to onlineopinion for a year or so an always notice the QUT and Brisbane Institute ads and wonder how National this forum is.
Just wondering where the regular contributors are from. and if they reflect their City/States media
I'm from Melbourne. and i feel our state and private media is going to the dogs.

We need more independant media especially in the land of OZ.Canada has Canada Free Press.Perhaps we need an Aust Free Press,that takes no corporate funding,nor is influenced by Govt.

The adverts are QLD and of no interest to me since I live in Perth.

I always thought those QUT etc. badges were sponsor acknowledgements rather than advertisements.

The ads I see - I'm in Sydney - are for generic stuff like HP laser printers and 3 Mobile...

To be honest, I zone out on all the adverts and never really notice or care where they are from.

I am from W.A. and have never felt that this forum concentrates on the Eastern states, like some football shows do! :)

I don't pay that much attention to the ads. it was just an observation. To be honest i was just interested. I've been trying to find the best Nation wide and local political blogs. I keep coming back to this one and just thought maybe it was dominated by Queensland academics (not a problem, again just interested). As i said i keep coming back to this one, so thanks.

Well that's obvious Desmond. that's why I'm here and among other quality political blogs looking for serious discussion. Obviously something is not "free" here otherwise there would be no need for the ads. I understand there are admin costs and someone should receive some type of compensation for maintaining a quality forum like this. You Desmond seem like you are a little quick to sprout short answer half truths.

The ads don't physically bother me it's what happens when a publication is beholden to advertising that journalism often is pushed into the background. I'm not saying this is the case here at ONO . in my first post i mentioned The Age (Melbourne paper) . anyone from Melb would agree, ads, graphic design and advertorials are taking over this once highly respected paper.

You should try to add something to a post Des rather than simply trying to knock it down.
