I do note that Ms Hanson has a book release very soon, could it be a publicist ploy to get media attention?

Surely not, but cynical old me thinks it could be :)

Unlike many who inhabit Australian politics, Pauline did earn her living before she entered as a candidate.A dinkum working lady!
Google the headlines of today's "West Australian", black Africans bringing Aids, TB and other assorted diseases into Australia.Written in black and white. Stuff happens.

I think Hanson is definitely in it for the money, as well as some public acclaim.

I believe she gets about $2.10 per vote if she makes the minimum quota of votes, regardless of whether she actually gets a Senate seat.

She was at best, just a media creation to create controversy and sell newspapers.

They fed off her on her way up, then again on her way down.

They later made money denouncing her as a criminal and them made more saying how she had been victimised by the system.

Meanwhile David Oldfield was using her to get himself into NSW government and we were all entertained by all the videos of the violent demonstrations.

Technically, this makes her a stooge.

I can get better and more intelligent opinions from just about anybody down at the local Bowling Club on a Friday night.

Put them in front of a camera with some serious political and media advisers and there you go.

Most of her fans were taken from Labour and then swallowed up by Howard after Tampa and may now be feeling restless, but you can't seriously believe that she has the solution to anything, let alone growing social problems.

Some of us may remember an article from her estranged husband that mentioned her real-life ("black bastards") racist tendencies and how the publishers were slapped with a D-Notice. I also remember her mother talking on TV about "the yellow peril" so you can see where her personal motivations may come from.

This time though, it's got to be about the money.

Rache... while I disagree about her being in it for the money, I do take your point about bowling club opinions. Her biggest enemy was her striking looks + lousy articulation, along with the Media as you rightly point out who made money off her on the way up..and on the way down.

The trick is (and that is the point of my thread) to capitalize on the MEDIA by outsmarting them, and using them to ones own advantage.
Knowing how to answer any reporter.. to avoid the pitfalls of Paulines experience is part of the key.

Increasingly, the mainstream media will be irrelevant as other avenues open up..like Youtube, Metacafe and a host of others.
We ourselves will be the makers of the news. Mirc is a great way to network with people around the world.

OLO could begin making pictorial reports about current events, in addition to the standard 'article' approach now used.
Web sites can adopt similar approaches..

Its exciting :)

My thread here is to show how those of us who have sat around for so long 'watching' others make the news, and steal the show, can now BE the show, and make a difference ourselves.

To me, the important thing is change in policy, not whether I personally obtain any position of political importance. I like relaxing too much for that :)

Micki....

I googled the West Australian, but I can only find quotes of Pauline there such as:

"What people are getting all upset about is the fact that you can't sing Christmas carols in schools because it upsets a certain amount of people," she said.

"You can't actually swim in baths because a certain amount of people want their privacy to swim in those baths.

CAROLS. The banning of these, (where it happens) is usually becuase of some idiotic politically correct teacher, rather than any Muslim agitation.

SWIMMING POOLS unless someone can show me otherwise (with well documented evidence) most supposed 'banning of non muslims' is not quite so, the truth usually is that Muslim groups hire the pool on days when it is not open or..at hours after it is normally closed.
I checked this out regarding Shepharton.
So..if anyone has hard evidence, I'm all ears.

The Box Hill pool was closed to the public one night a fortnight or week for nude bathing. STOP drooling u blokes :)

Boaz: "a Christian Jew is a person of Jewish heritage who has given their life to Christ".

Thanks for the clarification. Do you have Christian Buddhists, Christian Hindus, Christian Scientologists or Christian Atheists as well, or is it a qualification reserved for former Jews?

I'm interested that on your own knowledge you are aware that Hanson is peddling lies and distortions in her most recent pronouncements, yet you apparently support her. What was that thing again about "bearing false witness" - or is it okay if someone else does it on your behalf? Rabble-rousing claptrap is legitimate as long as it's directed at Muslims?

Does your end justify your means?
