The monster rears it`s ugly head once again,...the subject of an ageing population and the right for the elderly or the permanently incapacitated to have access to the Voluntary Euthanasia "Pill"

Anyone who watched the "Four Corners" programme last night should be extremely concerned at the horror portrayed under the guise of care and treatment ( or lack of it ) being administered to residents at some of the Aged Residential Homes/Institutions across the country, amplifying a situation that has been perpetuated and tolerated for far too long!

I will jump up on the rostrum and state emphatically that all of the ignorant, thoughtless, self-centred do gooders, religious cranks and the like who decry and deny this the right of every individual to a clean, decent and painless departure from existence, should hang their collective heads in shame at the current tragic and deadly circumstance that many of our aged and feeble citizens find themselves in, through no fault of their own!....You people are unbelievable, you accuse your neighbour of cruelty if he doesn`t feed his dog, you are quite happy happy to see a racehorse with a broken leg euthanased on the racetrack, yet at the same time you are prepared to condemn your own flesh and blood to a rapidly diminishing life of pain and degradation in the confines of an institution, removed and hidden away from your own selfish little comfort zone!

Successive governments have indicated increasing concern regarding the ageing population, yet none has had the decency to accept that "ageing" is a terminal disease for which their is no cure. We must therefor allow each individual the right to have access to the departure "pill" allowing these individuals the comfort in the knowledge that should things get too bad there is always a clean final solution accessible at the appropriate time!

Remember!....We all grow old and infirm and we should ALL think carefully about how we ourselves woud like to be treated when it is our turn to be cast off!

In many cases we have an ‘ageing population’ only because people are kept alive by medical experimenters when the poor old buggers should either be let die or, in the right instances, helped to die quickly, painlessly and with dignity.

I’m sure that euthanasia is practised in many cases – whether it is a hand over the nose and mouth of new-born babies who clearly don’t have a hope of a decent life, or a doctor’s suggestion that a family member be given ‘as much morphine as required’ when he or she goes home to die.

But, if we really lived in the caring society that we are told we do, euthanasia would not be the political football it is. It would be available to all who wanted it.

Until we are allowed the right to die, we can only support people like Phillip Nitschke, and hope that the right-to-life maniacs see some of their own die in misery and agony to bring them to their senses.

The Right to die, not suffer a lingering death:

I have an idea, lets test it on our animals first. Stop exporting them alive and letting them suffer.

If that all works we can do it for humans.

We can even put a label on the pill bottle!

“Fully Tested on Animals!”

Leigh,
it had to happen soon or later I agree with you.

Crackup
I'm not sure the attack was appropriate/helpful but the point is ok with me.
It should be up to the individual.
Might I also add to the 4 cnrs program. I have my reservations with allowing families any say if there is a clear wish expressed.
i.e. I have donated my carcass (when I'm finished with it) to the apprentice surgeon's school. Apparently they want bodies with pathologies. ( at current rates they'll open me up to find an IOU or 'oops too late')

But the problem is my wife is currently opposed to me not dispatched without the usual charade of a cemetery fair well...the act of closure. she has issues with the service being delayed for up to 2 years then the uni give a group remembrance ceremony.
Likewise she has concerns with my possible early expiration in that I have set down a DNR etc.(I doubt that I could rely on her to give me the pill or potion if it existed) ;-).
