Ever since man desceded from the the trees and had time to become self aware,he has shaped an all powerful being in his own image.

Why was not Jesus or Mohammad aware of black holes and the possibility of parrallel universes? If we study Einstien's or Hawking's theories of the universe, they are more magical and surreal than all the teachings of the so called messiahs.

Surely the great thinkers past and present are closer to our perceived creator than all the high priests on the planet.

Dear Arjay,

There are many ways of thinking about God.
Agnostics question the existence of God.
Atheists deny the existence of God.
Theists believe that a Supreme Being exists.
Many theologians have used rational arguments
to defend the existence of God. Some have
developed arguments which state
that a first cause must have begun the process
of creation, a cause that must be God. Others
have have set forth arguments based on belief
in a grand design or purpose for the world that
only a supreme God could have created.

Some Christian theologians have argued that the
traditional image of God as a father figure
with supernatural powers does not reflect the
modern world's scientific view of reality.

In the Shinto religion of Japan, gods are
thought to reside in particular trees, rocks and
streams.

Some early religions came to associate a sky god with
the entire expanse of the universe. The Greeks' Zeus
and the Romans' Jupiter, for example, emerged as
supergods.

In other religions, the cosmic God was thought to be
the sole creator and sustainer of life. Both Yahweh in
Judaism and Allah in Islam are viewed as this type of God.

Most Christians believe that God is seen through the
person of Jesus Christ.

It's all a matter of faith and personal belief.

I did not knew that you are so good! I agree with you.
The problem is not simple our ignorance but that religious leaders use us to promote their own interests and their stupid ideas.
Thay are very conservative and block the progress and free thinking.

It may well be true Foxy that religion is a matter of personal choice, but religion in the past, has been the vehicle of control and subjugation.
If we want true freedom,we must look towards the free thinkers who fear not the concept of god nor the limitations placed upon us under the guise of being holy.

Antonis,I'm no more special than the ant that crawls beneath your feet.Every living thing on this planet adds to our consciousness.30% of our genes are common with plants.98% are common with chimps.

When we all become a little more humble, then the realities of this unfolding universe will enrich our lives.

The principles and defining boundaries of the universe expand the mind to gain understanding and conclude there is reason and purpose to reality, it is not just a mindlees random purposeless accident. The human social experience for example demands moral principles of behaviour otherwise society is self destructive. Ajay even your reasoning points to purpose otherwise your reasoning is a futile waste.
Spiritual and philosophical reasons for existence are not defined by genetics, so it is pointless making such comparisons. I assume you have felt guilt sometime in your life which indicates a moral boundary at least in your mind. Abuse of the body leads to disease and death, abuse of our conscience and mind ignores our social responsibility to others.

Philo,I don't deny the possible existence of a superior being. The question is whether or not we have evolved enough to be part of this higher order of consciousness. We humans assume too much.We are the masters of our destruction.
