The facts as we know them are that Iran is devastated and barely hanging on. Sure they can terrify shipowners into not risking a Hormuz run but the straits only remain open at the discretion of the US which has no real interest in whether its open or not since the are self-sufficient in oil. No air-force, no navy, no air defenses to speak of, but the mullah's know that surrender equals death for them or at best exile. So they hang on, dependent on the good graces of western compassion.

AC has put it clearly, that the Iranians don't need a big navy and big air force to fight America, not that they had much of a navy and air force to begin with. All you have said about destruction and death is true,"(all)can be verified". The tactics Iran is using, like the Afghans and the Vietnamese before, who didn't even have a navy and air force to begin with, is use what capability you have to hit the big fella in the guts, and he'll give up. AND we are seeing that right now.
