Sorry if it sounded personal: the "you" in my previous post referred in plural to all those wishing to reserve Australia for its historical mainstream culture - it was not referring in any way to you in person.

That culture, a derivative of British culture, includes the English language, but also beer, gambling on horses, certain sports and more, thus one cannot be said to be truly Australian or truly assimilated without adopting all the above. Good that Australians no longer go fox-hunting with the dogs... I suppose that tea-drinking (caffeinated) is still the norm - When I came to Australia, I found that avoiding caffeinated drinks used to keep me a stranger to mainstream Australian culture for over a decade. Thank goodness it changed since and herbal teas are more common now, yet some older Australians could still never accept me if I do not drink their tea.

Immigrants, so long as they are peaceful, do not owe assimilation to that or to any other culture because the land does not belong to any culture to begin with, nor ought it be a privilege to settle anywhere on this God-created planet. The British in 1788 (who besides were not even more peaceful toward the natives than Middle-Eastern Muslims today) did not ask the Australian aborigines for the privilege to migrate, nor were expected to assimilate into their culture or speak their languages, so why should it be any different now?

A country can neither be happy nor sad. Only people and some evolved animals can, then within the same country, always some will be happy and others not.

As for security, that is an illusion, only the grave is secure. No matter how many cultures there are, one could be happy one moment and slip on a banana peel the next breaking their bones.

I was a little surprised that the police were so quick to claim that there was no evidence of harm. Were they the same police who found that the chanters at SOH didn't say anything hateful? Was any investigation of hospital records done to support the claim? Brushing things under the carpet like that is moronic and does nothing to restore public confidence.

It is very upsetting to hear health professionals say things like that, even in jest.

I don't particularly have a problem with them having anger or resentment towards Jewish people, it's kind of like Australian indigenous having anger and resentment towards the invaders.

- There's a certain element of merit in that anger and resentment I think, but there's also a line that you can't cross, and those nurses foolishly crossed it.

You shouldn't mess with anyone's health for any reason.
Even convicted criminals receive a basic level of healthcare when required.
The bigger question is if they ever did anything to undermine anyones health outcomes, they may have just been saying stuff because the man was stirring them up.

They have not been charged with a crime, and I wonder if they will be.
I expect they will be charged with some kind of racially motivated hate crime, maybe even threats of murder.
I'm not sure how I feel about them being charged, for me I think it all depends on whether any evidence of deliberate mistreatment of patients occurred.

If they were just talking bs, then I think the total loss of their careers and shame of family and friends might suffice as punishment enough, (I'm sure their qualifications didn't come cheap) but if they did anything at all malicious with their patients, then that's a different thing entirely.

They can't work in that profession anymore, so I think any risk towards patients based on what they said has been removed.
