Well, whatever you might think of population growth, Australia has no chance of maintaining living standards whilst a cultist political party pursues renewable energy insanity.

Although I differ with Alan B's MSR dreaming, I wish that his hopes of cheap and abundant energy would come to fruition as it can make an awful lot of things economically viable.

"Australia's population to hit 40m in 40 years - we must take action now!"

30% of the country were not born here, and if you add in their kids..
Many don't relate to the old Australia, they support the multicultural idea and identify as immigrants.

- Any attempt to lessen the intake will have you called racist and be opposed by the business council of Australia, as well as economists who are always banging on about growth, but want immigration to constrain wage growth, and don't forget the government uses immigration to keep the economy afloat via construction, and the left probably likes the support it may get from those people.

"I am openly putting that we put a tough limit on economic migrants to Australia."

When you say 'we' who exactly?
I agree with you, but you should know that it's likely a losing battle.
- Whether it makes sense to limit population growth or not.

And don't forget that as time passes and more people come and identify as immigrants, new governments will just go back on things and change the rules back to please there pro-multicultural immigrant identifying constituents.
What can we do?

I'd love to be optimistic about it, but realistically I think it would be an ongoing but losing battle.
- This country was taken away from its citizens decades ago.

Unless the insanity of vote buying via unskilled migrants is stoped, Australia is well placed to become a place worse than where such people come from !
The revenue creating workforce is gradually diminishing & the revenue guzzling force is already increasingly fighting among themselves as to which useless bureaudroid to con next for handouts !
