Humans have the intelligence, the tools and the
natural resources to provide for a good sustainable life as long as there are not so many humans that we exceed the globe's carrying capacity. All the evidence suggests that we must turn around population growth and aim for a much smaller population than we have today. David F., is right water shortages in this country is only one of the problems we face in the 21st century. Poverty is another, and the list goes on. David Llewellyn-Smith, Chief Strategist at the MB Fund and MB Super, and founding publisher and editor of 'MacroBusiness', writes that what he calls the 'AlboGreens' - the "fake left" - are so focussed on "social trivia" that they are that they are happy to conduct a class war on vulnerable Australians "via reckless population growth".
. more than 1,600 people are pushed into homelessness each month . New South Wales’s priority social housing waitlist has doubled in less than a decade and surged by 1,000 to 7,573 over the past year . This year the population has increased by 2.5%. The number of dwellings in the country has increased by 1.5% AlboGreens squabble over "non-solutions to their own crisis", pretending to build 6,000 houses annually, when 250,000 are needed to prevent the situation getting worse. Our immigration system needs an overhaul
according to Sydney University. We're told that temporary visa numbers have been uncapped since the Howard government. And they have been growing faster then permanent visa numbers. Temporary migrant workers apparently have doubled in the past 15 years. This is concerning. Australia may become a "guest-worker" society like Germany post World War II. It can cause harm to Australia and to migrants and under mine community confidence in the migration system. It can lead to migrant worker exploitation. We need to match the right intake to Australia's needs. We have an ageing population and reduced productivity. We also need the development of skills. Capping will be crucial to this and immigration can play a role. In any case the Albanese Government does have a plan: http://theguardian.com/australia-news/2023/apr/27/albanese-government-to-radically-streamline-australia-with-three-tiered-system-for-skilled-workers# Posted by Foxy, Thursday, 24 August 2023 11:37:51 AM

I have no objection to people of a different culture coming to Australia. I have no objection to people of a different or no religion coming to Australia. The identity changed when the English settled the country. I have no objection to continuing change. Identity is not a constant.
A few generations back none of my ancestors spoke English. It is now my language. Having people of a non-English culture coming to Australia need not divide the country. We can learn to live together.
We can learn about the cultures in third world countries and be better for it. I applaud the disappearance of white Australia.
The environment is my concern not identity. There is a shortage of fresh water in Australia compared to that available in the USA and China.
We have different concerns.
