We should expect nothing less from a totalitarian state masquerading as a democratic state. Imagine the hue and cry if it was China trying to murder Assange, ttbn and the old farts would be completely off their rockers with pious indignation.

Diver Dan said- "slave trade of democracy"
Answer- I can empathize with Diver Dan's comment on democracy as our democracy isn't necessarily democratic in some senses. Democracy is partly based on the principle of distribution of power- but as ttbn says Australia is governed by a uni-party concentration of power- and is perhaps becoming more and more totalitarian month by month- while we are ineffectively attempting to solve the problem by a framework that is designed for totalitarianism Posted by Canem Malum, Monday, 31 July 2023 1:54:23 AM

Foxy's link may be surprisingly slightly useful- One of the authors Gerry Stoker sounds like he is concerned about the crisis of participation and trust in western politics. The biography is still a bit sparse at first attempt.

joins Albanese to back end Julian Assange's UK
incarceration. The Opposition Leader supports
fully diplomatic intervention in the Wikileaks
founder's case saying it has gone on for too long.
Amnesty International also stresses that -
"Authorities in the US must drop the espionage and
all other charges against Assange that relate to his
publishing activities as part of his work with
Wikileaks."
They say that:
"If one publisher can be targeted like Julian Assange for
their work, what's to stop it happening to others including
investigative journalists, and other media figures."
