Gay marriage (which I supported) was about granting one section of society the same rights as the rest of the population in a way that would not adversely affect anyone else.

The voice is about granting one racial group rights over and above what the rest of the population has in a way that potentially will affect everyone else.

Luckily it looks as though this racial bigotry will lose.

I love my brother dearly and he did send me a text
apologising for his heated words. I rang him back
and everything's good between us now. It wasn't
so much that he had a different opinion - it was the
insults he was hurling that hurt at the time.

But we've sorted things out. So it's all good.

No need to have a blow up with your bro over these sorts of things, the cut and thrust of political discussion can have that effect. My older bro, 50 years a public high school teacher, is politically a far right nut job (in my opinion) and we've had many a "discussion" on all things political. A bit odd, as so many on here stereotype school teachers as raving lefties, seems not all.

That is good to hear. My family is a political spectrum as well, and I observe plenty of no go areas. One of my nieces even banned her mum (my sister) from commenting on her blog.

I'm trying to learn not to be too critical.
