Here we go again. Just when we thought it was safe to go outside, the threat of another potential flu pandemic raises its head.

We'll have to wait and see. In the meantime, it's another good 'scare the silly buggers' campaign for governments. Takes our minds off government bungling in a number of areas, and gives them the chance to put us under more control by saying, "We'll save you."

I agree ...it would unwise to write this off as just another scare campaign just yet. The virus could mutate and become more of a problem, it's too early to tell. Taking precautions is a good thing...after all, once it gets hold it's too late. I'm trying to hold back cycnicism about politicians / opportunists for a while.

its a conveniant destraction from the economic collapse, the vector is fly blown,..from huge pig farms owned by the king of the world..[mr wrathchild/rothchild]..

who also owns suprise suprise the media and banking and insurance industries,..via many tricky deceptions.. crossholdings and controls over the holding companies

see that all the actuial stocks and shares are suposedly held by an imf shelf company..[who holds 23 trillion worth of real share's,..conveniantly the worlds trades get settled through the imf fund's shelf companies, but take the shelf company holding the 23 trillion in share..that generates 3/4 of a trillion in tade..[it holds a debt[to mr wrathchild,..of near 22 trillion[clever scam eh]

anyhow the mexican..[swine/bird/human hybred/flue is a weopenised re-combo of 3 prior flues, read previous posts..and is spread not airborn not human to human,as the world heath arm of the wrathchild dynasty declares,

but transmitted by a darn fly..[his media hypes the infection rate while the death toll is near nothing..[less than 10 confirmed swine flue deaths are reported]yet expect compulsory vacinations..

[just like they did..to get all them millions dying early last century[read up on the spanish bird flue]..the last time the economy 'collapsed'..anna bligh allready is ordering police to get the shots..lol,

so we are being decieved yet again..[so we stopped demanding the audit of the fed..[but soon too the web gets shut down..[marshal-law is being declared all over, the other issues are being submrerged under this media/hype/panic

not much will change till your police get put on tamaflue.,[angel dust,..that causes halucinations and phycosis..[and they are armed lol..[read the russia cop reports]..that was only tamaflue[wait till the compulsory injections begin,..thats when we get the pandemic

last time the sars thing stopped when police refused their shots[will be be as lucky this time..[well who knows ..lol..[depends how bad the'other'news gets..lol

look my wrathchild your the clever dude..you won ok

now just stop your other delusions, before you genocide the whole human race,..how much control you need?..[better to rule over billions than millions]

It is obvious from the article that it is another scare.. the numbers mentioned by the author - 1,600 cases and 150 plus deaths (all but one to date in Mexico) - clearly show that the disease is not worth mentioning. Those deaths and illnesses would simply make no difference to the overall statistics for death and illnesses in any of the places the flu has reached, and perhaps have no effect on the statistics for the specific category for respiratory illnesses - even in Mexico where all the deaths have occured. There are lots of ways to die in Mexico City.
Health authorities should be concerned - its is their job to contain these outbreaks and prevent unnecessary deaths - but individuals should forget all about it, and go jogging.

Okay I must be missing something here. All the posts seem to range from blaise to skeptical. Lets get a little perspective...a fatality rate of around 8% is pretty frigging sreious and if my government wasn't stepping up to the plate on this I would be bloody annoyed.

The mathematics on disease vectors is frightening and as this is a new strain/combination as related in the piece the 'precautionary principle' must be dragged front and centre.

I'm happy to cop a little scaring rather than a dose of this thing.

of the mex deaths 7 are confirmed swine flue[ius has one], how many cases we got world wide>,compared to the under 10 deaths

last time chicken little bought nillions of doses of tamiflue[costing how much[the stock pile is now near two years old, how long that angel dusty stay fresh for[what is its preservitive?, what are its side affects, how-hard stepped up to the plate mate,in 2005

read the spin from back then
http://www.mja.com.au/public/issues/184_01_020106/lok10852_fm.html

between December 2003 and 22 September 2005,115 infections and 59 deaths were reported to the World Health Organization).

As a result, the emergence of the third prerequisite is highly probable, and governments worldwide have moved to a raised level of pandemic preparedness.

The global economic and human cost of pandemic influenza in the 21st century is likely to be very high.Depending on the infectivity of the virus, experts estimate that the worldwide toll could be between 7.4 and 150 million deaths

The Australian Government estimates that a pandemic could result in up to 13 000 Australian deaths and 2.8 million infections. This number of infections is likely to overwhelm the health system and disrupt most economic activities.

Given infection rates of up to 20% of the population and a global spread of disease occurring in waves over several months, the disruption to trade and industry could lead to a prolonged economic recession..>>BUT MATE..we got the ressesion..yet the rest just DIDNT HAPPEN...lol

This is the age of cynicism .

Overtly attributed to Rudd whose every word is "Spin".

What happened with his "Wars" ?

Why are we still shooting up "Religious Fanatics" in Afghanistan ?
Perpetuating the Howard/Dubya legacy?

If we can't trust our Leaders because of Spin , why should we be influenced by Flu Hysteria . Just another leg rope for the people hiding Rudds impotence .

Rudd should reflect on History eg; The Inca's .

H1N1-H5N1 Flu Outbreak Implicates Anglo-American"Vaccine Pipeline"
Says
Doctor Leonard Horowitz

Los Angeles,CA—....Skyrocketing stock values of Novavax,

Inc.,1
..precipitated by dozens of flu deaths in Mexico, implicates a leading Anglo-American network of genetic engineers in a conspiracy to commit genocide, according to a Harvard trained expert in emerging diseases, Dr. Leonard Horowitz.

Dr. James S. Robertson,England's leading bioengineer of flu viruses for the vaccine industry, and avid promoter of U.S. Government funding for lucrative"biodefense"contracts, along with collaborators at the US
Centers for Disease Control & Prevention(CDC),helped Novavax,Inc.,in
Bethesda,Maryland ..

...produce genetically-modified recombinants of the avian, swine, and Spanish flu viruses,H5N1 and H1N1,nearly identical to the unprecedented Mexican virus that has now spread to the United States.!

The outbreak was precisely timed to promote the company's new research and huge vaccine stockpiling contracts,..according to Dr. Horowitz.2

Scientists at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control(CDC) are implicated..through collaborations and publications involving private contracts with Novavax,a company that obtains its"biosimulars"through CDC Influenza Branch director,Ruben O. Donis, and Dr. Rick Bright, previously working with Donis at the CDC now Novavax's Vice President of Global Influenza Programs.

Evidence for the conspiracy to commit deadly duplicity in the vaccine
industry includes the genetic markers on the novel flu virus now spreading from Mexico to America...

Flu is not the biggest killer. Road Accidents would beat it by thousands.
It is a toss up with malnutrition which leave one open to any number of diseases, Cholera, caused by dirty drinking water. “Cholera is an acute intestinal infection caused by ingestion of food or water contaminated with the bacterium Vibrio cholerae. It has a short incubation period, from less than one day to five days, and produces an enterotoxin that causes a copious, painless, watery diarrhoea that can quickly lead to severe dehydration and death if treatment is not promptly given. Vomiting also occurs in most patients.” as described by the WHO. They also give a description of the Flu..
“Influenza is a viral infection that affects mainly the nose, throat, bronchi and, occasionally, lungs. Infection usually lasts for about a week, and is characterized by sudden onset of high fever, aching muscles, headache and severe malaise, non-productive cough, sore throat and rhinitis.”

This latest Pandemic Scare is fed by a bored Media with little else to do but feed the Hype. Recommend injections & tablets to combat yet another variety of a mutating virus that has Scientists from all Countries adding to the dilemma with their by experimenting with man & animal varieties. Yes, crossbreeding these little fellows. What they did in 1981 has been added on resulting with the latest “influenza porcina”

http://vir.sgmjournals.org/cgi/reprint/64/1/177.PDF

There has to be a common denominator with the virus springing up in a wide variety of places, my guess it is in the Inoculations that have been derived from animals, not necessarily directly from the porcine. I may have tagged along with another viral preventative overlooked by Clever Scientists…

Governments are damned if they do and damned if they don't in these sorts of scenarios.

Compared to some media reports governments, with some exceptions from the states, have been pretty even-handed about swine flu and have said there is no need to panic.

Better to be prepared in event of further developments but to keep things in perspective.

I would not agree that hysteria is at fever pitch.

If you are worried about the new "FLU Pandemic" listen to this,
as it could safe your life.It is a taped phone conversation for distributors of the spoken about material and does not carry a sales pitch. As I have used this material for seven years myself I thought it appropriate to share this knowledge. Take your time to listen to the full tape.

We have to hope this one fizzles out, and that Governments do everything they can to stop it. However, on a lighter note, it may be that it will fade from our view due to the banal label, Swine Flu. It is hard to say it out loud without sounding like someone out of Fawlty Towers.
If, however, it had a decent attention-grabbing name it might get a longer hang time in the media. Perhaps

Global Porcine Pandemic or
Global Porcine Pestilence, for the biblically-minded

After the success of the GFC, nothing but the word Global will suffice.
