Operation Epic Fury and US unreadiness for war : Comments

By Binoy Kampmark, published 27/3/2026

The myth of US military invincibility collides with a harder reality: unreadiness, depleted stockpiles, and a war exposing the limits of power.

Operation Epic Mistake.

"Legislation regarding 'right to repair' provisions that would enable soldiers to tend to equipment problems without having to send them back to the manufacturer was also on the cards, though yet to pass."
- They are so focused on profits, they act like John Deere who prevents farmers from repairing their own tractors.

I doubt the other sides are so hamstrung, reckless and foolish.

Western sons and daughters dying for Israel?
Count me out, let them fight their own battles, and I hope they lose.

I'd prefer to run my car on Russian or Iranian oil instead.
Diversity is good, but only when they say so.

“The addiction of the US imperium to waging wars…” is a stupid comment to start with, and a lie. As long as Islamic extremism exists, we had better hope that the US is willing to fight wars in defence of the West - unlike the rest of the West, including Australia, where there is an outrageous tolerance of the threats to our country due to the immigration of the sorts of people that the US is fighting on our behalf.

But, the US might just stop fighting on behalf of the rest of us. Trump is now openly naming Australia, along with Europe, as useless allies. Americans themselves look like they want him replaced with another Obama or someone like Biden.

Starting with Jimmy Carter, the Democrats have to take full responsibility for the Iranian threat to the West that Trump is trying to halt.

As for the rest of Kampmark's bilge, it's all just a cranky opinion. He is no more qualified to give advice (totally unknown outside of this site) than anyone else is. Being a mere lecturer at RMIT makes him no more important or knowledgeable than a pox doctor's clerk.

America saved Australia during WW2. They might not be willing to do it again, crap ally that we are.
