Useful expedient: expelling Iran’s Ambassador to Australia : Comments
By Binoy Kampmark, published 29/8/2025Iran has bigger fish to fry; why would it waste resources targeting Australia’s Jewish community, a country so far from its interests as to be satirically irrelevant?

Dear Rhian,
«The roots of this murderous hostility pre-date the establishment of the state of Israel by hundreds of years» Israel was created in 1948. Until the Iranian revolution in 1978, Israel and Iran were best friends, they cooperated tightly on everything and there are even rumours about the two conducting nuclear tests together - http://www.timesofisrael.com/a-generation-ago-israelis-found-paradise-in-iran/ Iran's regime hates Israel because it was the Shah's best friend, that's all. The common Iranians still covertly love Israel. --- History will remember Netanyahu for what he is: A weak politician who betrayed Israel and abandoned Australia's Jews. Dear Yuyutsu
Yes, Iran’s governments have not always been hostile to Israel and many of its people still aren’t, including many of the refugees who have fled the Ayatollahs’ regime. Hostility between the two is not inevitable, nor is enmity between Muslims and Jews. I was thinking more of the ideological roots of the particular brand of IslamoFascism of the current Iranian regime, which stretches back through the vehement anti-Jewish views of the Muslim Brotherhood developed in the 1930s through Muslim scholars who have described Jews as descended from apes and pigs and to the Prophet himself ordering the slaying of all adult male Jews in Medina. There is an article on this in today’s Australian by Henry Ergas. The article itself is behind a paywall but appears to have been copied and can be read here. I often disagree with Ergas and find him rather pompous, but he raises some interesting points. http://www.facebook.com/100057702270066/posts/there-are-many-lessons-in-the-expulsion-of-irans-ambassador-for-orchestrating-at/1199347491998649/ There are many other texts in Islam that promote respect for Jews and co-operation with them. Likewise, the Bible of my own religion (Christianity) has many texts which have been used in the past to justify vilification and persecution of Jews. Happily, most Christians nowadays no longer interpret these passages this way and are deeply appreciative of the Jewish roots of our faith. I hope one day Israel and Iran return to cordial relations. But that is not going to happen under their present leaders. Posted by Rhian, Friday, 29 August 2025 6:55:22 PM

Writing in today’s Australian Jonathan Spyer, director of research at the Middle East Forum, says that “… the arson attacks in Australia, against targets of no political relevance but chosen purely because of their ethno-religious affiliation, bear the particular hallmarks of the IRGC [Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps] and resemble attacks it has carried out elsewhere.” Spyer goes on to list examples of several similar attacks in Germany and Norway, as well as the Buenos Aires attack I referenced earlier.

I can not fathom why people insist on trying to find sense in the Middle East conflicts when there clearly is no sense !
I can only put it down to no sense among the supporters for the prolonging of the idiocy ! Normally, I wouldn't really give a damn about such mentality however, since the morons are now importing & bring this idiocy to these shores it does give rise to great concern about it being one minute to midnight of losing every chance of stopping this here ! Is the Iranian regime in trouble?
http://henryjacksonsociety.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/HJS-Regime-Collapse-in-Iran-Report-web.pdf The geopolitical changes in the M-E could hardly have gone better for Israel this year. But this would be the cherry on top. Posted by mhaze, Sunday, 31 August 2025 6:43:13 PM

Iran was behind a terrorist attack on a Jewish community centre in Argentina in 1994 that killed 85 people, and is accused of sponsoring recent attacks on Jewish targets in Europe in much the same was as it is accused of doing in Australia – using proxies and paid criminal gangs.

Australia may seem an unlikely target for Iranian terrorism, but so are Finland and Czechia, and apparently they share our government’s concerns.
