Israel should strive to become a spiritual superpower - a light unto the nations, led by God alone.

I do realise however, that the road there is long and Rome wasn't built in a day, so in the first stage Israel will need to transform from the uncaring land-and-revenge-greedy military power it presently is, into an intellectual and economic giant, especially in the area of medicine, bringing healing to the world rather than destruction, then only will be born the spiritual leader that will uplift Israel further to spiritual heights.

All gifts are God's and we must never think that we can do anything on our own: forgetting God is the biggest sin.
The first step to healing Israel, is for it to forsake all cursed territories it took in 1967, particularly Eastern Jerusalem, which made it arrogant and boastful of its military arms, corrupt and insensitive to the suffering of others, including within.

It’s well to realise, Israel is a Democracy with its attendant structures.

Shame is, it is not supported by a plethora of similar Democracies that have aligned themselves with Islamist Theocracies, particularly in the ME where Israel fights a lone war against what you are suggesting.

Anyway, Israel becoming a spiritual superpower is way into the long term future, for now it should just stop its military belligerence and instead concentrate on what it is best at, becoming an intellectual, scientific and medical giant.

Also, Israel has no reason to define itself in relation to its neighbours - neither in war nor in peace.

In their own mind, yes they do. They firmly believe theirs is a God given mission.
Israel is in the grip of a religious war. Cleanse the world of infidels, starting with the Jews, and finishing off with anyone and everyone not compliant with Islam.
