Why we even talking about the 140 detainees? Albanese brought in 518,000 net migration, then fibbed that he was “halving” migration. That’s what we should be talking about.

We definitely should be talking about immigration. The Australian political class is addicted to this lazy way of increasing economic growth, which makes us all poorer per head. Population growth accounted for 85% economic growth in 2023. The highest on record. But, Australians were almost $8,000 poorer per capita because of it. However, the talking has to be done by voters to politicians, and there is not much chance of that happening. Posted by ttbn, Saturday, 30 December 2023 3:32:25 PM

Dear Hasbeen,
How's it going old cock? Good? So what has you flapping your gums at the moment? oh tha't right: "Lust perhaps he can stay in power by importing hundreds of thousands of undesirables to shore up his vote, he won't have anything good to show for all his flying." So I clearly show that Albo's overseas travel was on par with both Abbott and Morrison of whom you never said boo but you once again as Murdoch's good little lap dog repeat the great lie. You really are the prime definition of a useful idiot aren't you. As for importing votes in their hundreds of thousands that too was under Morrison. You see only those who are granted citizenship can vote. And the only time that has gone over 200,000 was in the 2019-20 year, smack bang under Morrison. It certainly didn't reach those heights under Labor, even in the last financial year. http://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/research-and-stats/files/migration-trends-2022-23.PDF But the most concerning thing for you has been the calamitous drop in education export dollars, you know, the money coming into the country through educating foreign students. It went from over $40 billion dollars in 2019 to just $22 billion in 2021. It climbed to $26 billion in 2022 and hopefully for you and the sake of your benefits it will get back to the previous levels. http://www.education.gov.au/international-education-data-and-research/education-export-income-2021-calendar-year#:~:text=International%20education%20is%20worth%20%2426.6,Australia%20due%20to%20travel%20restrictions. So mate you should be cheering from the sidelines but instead you are doing your block for no reason. Get a life you old fart! Posted by SteeleRedux, Saturday, 30 December 2023 7:07:45 PM

Hasbeen: Hear, hear and well said old mate.
Steele: Your unnecessary descent into a largely personal attack says more about you than who you attack. I'm glad you have no say who posts here. Don't be an A hole all your life, take a day off. Best wishes for the festive season and goodwill to all men. Alan B. Posted by Alan B., Sunday, 31 December 2023 9:51:19 AM

Labor's vote is a sign that it's backed the wrong horse and needs ASAP to pick a new leader.
For mine that's Bill Shorten. He may be like Lazarus on a triple bypass. But the only one capable of improving the numbers. Unfortunately, he is hamstrung by Labor's infantile and insane position on nuclear energy. Alan B. Posted by Alan B., Sunday, 31 December 2023 10:00:28 AM

Dear Alan.B,
What a Karen of a post. Hasbeen and I have been exchanging pleasantries well before you joined the forum. If you look back over many threads you will find he often pops up in order to have a go at one of my posts as his first contribution. Admittedly it has become quite formulaic between us, but there is little doubt Hasbeen has had a jab with the expectation that he would be get one back. I find it both nostalgic and a little endearing, and kind of miss it if he isn't trying to have a nip. He may well be the same but if he doesn't all he has to do is tell me and it would be sorted. But if you find it distressing then just move on. This is an anonymous forum and one would be pretty silly to think there is any real skin being taken off with some lightweight shearing shed banter.
