They have failed because of Palestinian leaders' shortsightedness, misguided policies, and unwillingness to accept Israel's ineliminable reality.

Perhaps, maybe so, but hardly today's issue.

As long as a corrupt PM faces his deserved day in court, he will play hard ball with any possible end to a conflict, which serves him and his desire to avoid justice and possible prison time.

And regardless of how much blood is spilled or lives lost!

The article is correct, but I will eagerly await the next one proclaiming the miracle of a confederation: Israelis cannot even manage to live peacefully together among themselves, yet the author somehow thinks that they can manage better with others... let us see that rabbit emerging out of his hat...

It seems to me that the Palestinian Leaders who contributed to this long-running insane situation have too much skin (and money?) in the game to give in and allow a peaceful settlement. Israel knows that and acts as it has to ensure it's survival.

Israeli leaders need this game of war no less - not for Israel's survival, but for their own political survival.
