Obviously, the straw is now waterlogged.

No we don’t need India, we need Trump.

diver dan,
What we need is for Australians to start thinking ! Who is going to hold their breath first ?
What we need is to change the heads & top bureaudroids in major Govt Departments when a Govt changes. Australia was built by good Australians & good migrants. Now it is manipulated by greedy, vision-devoid Australians & shifty migrants !
Let's push for change now towards the next election. I'm afraid without discipline & respect we will prove Orwell right !
Let's get a national Service scheme off the ground as that will be our only hope !

India's relationship with Russia is a worry as are its internal divisions/inequalities. India is a nation with some of the richest folk in the world and some of the poorest. As is the US and China.

India just stood there as China militarized the international shipping channel, the south China sea. Did it want, in its "diplomacy" the Ukraine to fold and allow the Russian dictator to begin to remake the old USSR?

That said, if it could use what influence it has, backed by military capacity, to get Russia to withdraw from all Ukrainian territory? Then it could work as an honest broker to end all manner of human and resource wasting conflict, if that be their earnest desire?

One needs a big stick held in a velvet glove to be a useful diplomat!

Indy. Agree, we need the advice to change with change of government, otherwise nothing much or worthwhile is changed or really reformed. When we vote we vote for change and there's far too little real change that's little more than ebullient gunner do rhetoric!

We need far fewer foreigners holding the purse strings and us over their (maximum profit) financial barrel, bleeding us white financially. We may need their money, but hardly ever their financial control or management paradigms.

India steps up, as Dr. Ioan Voicu astutely notes. We hardly ever credit developing countries for their contribution to world peace or their efforts to alleviate hunger and promote economic development in the Global South. Indeed, India’s efforts are nothing but impressive for a country that has only emerged as a middle-income country just a couple of years ago. Excellent article – thank you for raising our awareness and understanding of India’s noteworthy contributions.
