Political parties will die on Saturday : Comments

By Everald Compton, published 20/5/2022

Election 2022 will result in Australians choosing a minority ALP Government. Many Independents will be elected and the Greens will enhance their numbers.

I believe the two major parties have nothing to fear, both the Protectionist Party and the Free Trade Party will continue unmolested for years to come. The two traditional parties having nothing to concern themselves with, and Mr Barton will remain Australia's Prime Minister for the next 20 years at least. Here in 1901, gazing into my crystal ball I can only see good times ahead for Australia, there is no possibility of a future World War or a Great Depression as we had in the 1890's. I also predict the fledgling Australian Labor Party is nothing more than an apparition and will be gone and forgotten by the end of the decade. As for Federation, a minor irritant, Australia will revert to its status as a collection of British colonies very soon.

Mrs Compton isn't it great to have a crystal ball, if yours should every break, I'll lend you mine. Then again we could just wait to Sunday morning to see how much of your prediction comes true.

IP,
My thoughts for many years also. A bit of confusion at the start until the pecking order is established then (maybe) responsible govt.
Certainly far less confusion than the present rabble of incumbents.

As much as this would be wonderful, I suspect this will come back to haunt you come Sunday or Monday.
