The killer cult of self-esteem : Comments

By Lillian Andrews, published 15/3/2022

When postmodern preoccupations, progressive politics and public health collide, the result is always ugly, especially when this toxic creature campaigns under the vaunting promise of 'saving lives'.

Yes, nothing wrong with healthy self esteem and knowing there is at least one thing/skill set, you can do better than anyone else. Nor is there a problem with folk having their own informed opinions!

But the Author is correct in saying that misplaced self esteem that is not earned, can easily become, pumped up, Narcissistic self idolation. And such a comfort, to know they're always right.

I love me, I love me, I'm mad about myself, I love me I love me, I take me off the shelf, I take myself to dinner and after I'm well fed, I take myself home for a nightcap then off I go to bed, Oh Rodger, you're such a big boy, with such a big toy. Oh, I love me, I love me, I give myself a clap, but if I get too fresh with me, I give myself a slap. Oh, I love me, I love me, I'm mad about myself.

<< Multiple different data sources show that their mental health is plummeting, regardless of widespread anti-depressant use. >>

Mental health is inextricably linked to physical health. External factors may contribute, but poor mental health is primarily a metabolic disorder.

Mental health problems can be improved and in many cases eliminated through dietary changes and nutritional supplementation. Anti-depressants only ever mask the symptoms and invariably create a whole host more. They will never correct the underlying disorder.

The decline in mental health over the last four or five decades correlates directly with the ever-rising consumption of adulterated and nutrition-free food and exposure to multiple environmental toxins.

Anyone who increases their nutritional levels and reduces their toxic load will notice the improvement in how they think and feel. In today's environment of factory farming and fast food, it requires a good deal of knowledge and commitment to achieve this. But those with the discipline to do so will experience the benefits both physically and mentally.

The so-called 'killer cult of self-esteem' has nothing to do with it.

Self-esteem is important, but the problem is that people tend to esteem their extended-belongings instead, which are not themselves, and depend on those for their self-esteem, thus when their belongings are gone, break or expire, which is bound to happen sooner or later, their self-esteem goes down through the floor as well.

Extended belongings include talents, achievements, records broken, jobs, positions, status, degrees and certificates, health and fitness, social and sexual performance, the company and esteem of esteemed others, offspring, past services and donations, etc. as well as ordinary physical possessions.

Just saw a Current Affairs spiel on Bali & how they need Australians to return. They showed some young females (Australian) & self-esteem would be the the most foreign concept to them by the look of them !

I wonder if they were the same ones I saw, with one seemingly sporting a new lip enhancement saying 'Wherever there is alcohol you will find us'. Makes you feel proud!
