After the Russian Invasion of the Ukraine is the United Nations still relevant? : Comments

By Christopher Michaelsen, published 4/3/2022

Other than demonstrating that the vast majority of states deplored the Russian actions, the effect of the resolution will remain limited.

Resolutions mean nothing. The UN means nothing. The West will soon mean nothing, obsessed as it is with climate change, racism and gender-bending - everything except its security and survival.

Seems to me Russians are morally right helping the people of Donetsk and Luhansk stop 8 years of aggression from the US installed government In Kiev since they declared independence. Also to try and stop Ukraine joining NATO, of which the purpose of was to defend against the Soviet Union and Warsaw Pact allies. The US has pushed many former Warsaw Pact member countries to join NATO after promising it should not expand after breakup of Soviet Union. Effectively aim of NATO has long been a pretext to keep the US in Europe, Russia out and Germany down. Now there are very strong precedents for Russia vetoing Security UN Security Council resolutions. Is a long list of United Nations resolutions condemning actions of what amounts to the Criminal Apartheid Zionist Settler State in Occupied Palestine that have been vetoed by the United States, where there has long been strong Zionist influence strongly supporting a Jewish state. Important to note that many Jews are lukewarm supporters of the State of Israel and some, including Orthodox religious ones strong opponents. Seems Zionists get their main support in US from fundamentalist Christians there who believe Jews need to be in power in the Holy Land for the second coming of Christ. Then note the record of the US condemning others of allegedly dirty actions when it it is often to try and detract from them doing worse things themselves.

What Russia demands and what she gets need to be two different things! To put it bluntly, if she gets what she wants via terror tactics, then we may as well bend over, kiss our kestas goodbye and just give the the terrorists all that they demand?

As for the UN it needs vast reform with those nations able to cooperate for the greater good lining up as the new UN with a new security council that doesn't include China or Russia along with the power to veto this or that, when there needs to be concerted and united action.

If the UN is to remain relevant, it needs to fulfil a charter to be a body of United Nations. If it no longer is able to do that? Then it needs to disband and be wound up! And the billions spent elsewhere and far more productively.

Say, on NATO and its weapons arsenal and ability to respond.

Russia's bluff and terrorist posturing needs to be called and the Ukraine admitted to NATO, yesterday! And as a member of NATO, supplied with nuclear weapons!

Mox, WTF has Israel the Jewish state or diaspora got to do with The totally unwarranted attack on the Ukraine?

This smells of a red herring and a very rotten one at that?

It's clearly, a garbage in garbage out comment with no relevance to the core issues being discussed.

What's next, the Russian attack on an entirely peaceful neighbour, was because the moon is made of green cheese? Putin's reasoning is even less rational than the example given!

Nobody with a functioning brain would see the Ukraine, its entry into NATO as any kind of a threat to anybody! Least of all to wartime ally, Russia!

Hey Alan B,
"Mox, WTF has Israel the Jewish state or diaspora got to do with The totally unwarranted attack on the Ukraine?"

- Double Standards.

Hey mox,
If you wish to in any way imply Trump was Mr. Perfect take note he moved the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, that certainly didn't help the Palestinian situation.
And he also intervened to keep the weapons sales going to Saudi in the war against Yemen, even after Saudi Arabia did a double tap attack using laser-guided weapons on a funeral with 400 people.

I'm not sure he started any wars;
And not that I support NATO expansion but he played along.
He said NATO funding should be cut, and ended up getting more funding from other countries for it instead.
