How do I vote for the ‘Barty Party’? : Comments

By Graham Young, published 4/2/2022

In the contrasts between Ash Barty and Nick Kyrgios we see a little of the divisions that rend modern Australian life.

Yes, Barty is great, but Kyrgios is a waste of talent because of his attitude.

And look at the way Nadal and Federer conduct themselves. Never any sooking from them.

I regard people who play useless games for money as parasites, whose only use is to entertain a spectator class, unable to, or unwilling to, amuse themselves.

Most of these "athletes" are arrogant spoiled brats. Barty is neither of these things, but neither are Nadal and Federer.

Barty and other sporting "heroes" are just substitute suck blankets for a jaded public in a jaded culture trying to avoid reality.

On the money Graham. I have nothing but the most profound admiration for this Lady!

Here is a very public figure that very few would dare critigue! I hold her as our finest role model Australia has produced and she plays tennis like a superstar!

Ash Barty for our next G.G. Once she has concluded her sporting career!

ttbn. Maybe? but what if that reality is being confined by injury or illness to a wheelchair and as the only resident in a very lonely house!

Wanna swap? You take my reality and I yours?

I suggest you wouldn't last five weeks, before you took the easy way out? And sobbing like a baby as you did so?

Try walking a mile or two in the other bloke's shoes before you fire off your next load of verbal vomit.

Without bias.

Does Barty subscribe to the extreme divisive anti-Australian values attributed to her by Teela Reid( a lawyer and Wiradjuri/Wailwan woman).in The Age?
“The Ngarigo woman, world No. 1 female tennis player and now 2022 Australian Open champion, epitomises just how deadly and formidable First Nations women are. ….
There is no force equal to a First Nations’ woman standing in her power. Barty has written herself into the history books and just like Cathy and Evonne, who are proud black women, has shaped the trajectory of our nation. A historic moment for us all, but most importantly for all other young First Nations people, who Ash has so fiercely and proudly represented….
Ash is a warrior woman leaving a legacy that will unify us, so we can celebrate what it means to be Australian living on First Nations land…
Barty,s coach is Craig Tyzzer.

You're a bit hard on the sports people ttbn.

To get to the top, even in team sports which require a cast of thousands, those who succeed have put in a great deal of effort & training. I don't hesitate to suggest that most top sporting people have put in a great deal more work than the traditional entertainers such as singers & actors.

I can't understand the spectator. You couldn't drag me to a tennis match, or a socker game, with all those thousands of people shouting & screaming every few seconds, but I did watch some of Barty's match, & admired her skill & attitude.

I have never been to a race meeting where I didn't drive, a yacht race where I wasn't sailing, but I did once attend a championship show jumping event. I went to try to find out why they were so good, & found it immediately. It was so obvious that they put in more work in training their horses & themselves than I ever would. I admired their dedication & result, but could not value it enough to ever emulate their effort myself.

I will continue to admire Barty, but also Kyrgios. Who knows how hard he is fighting to contain that which causes his outbursts. Contain that & their may be little left. Meanwhile I will admire all who attain, rather than sit in a stand & kibitz.

I didn't know that Barty was 'aboriginal' until the usual race-obsessed nutters blew their trumpets. She can't be celebrated and praised as the top player and, seemingly, a nice young Australian woman. No, the good old divisive race card has to be pulled out.

I've never been interested in mob spectator sports. OK to keep ancient Romans from causing trouble, but these days, if you can't do it yourself, watching others is pathetic, to me. I was a target shooter and glider pilot. No watching or being watched.

The sport that doesn't get the recognition it deserves is Jelly Wrestling down at the Royal on a Friday night.

Ash Barty, is a very nice young Australian who plays very good tennis, my granddaughter is also a very nice young Australian who doesn't play very good tennis.

BTW Australia's greatest spokesperson was Phar Lap, never whinged once, even when he lost.

No…not colour blind, but blinded by black, the antithesis of white, the standard bearer colour for woke incorporated: BLM and all associated sh#t under the rainbow flag!

The financiers of woke incorporated assemble under the flag with two representative hands of oppression clasped over a grey stone squeezing from it a lone drop of red blood; that rare commodity of precious fluid of the working class taxpayer.

But black is beautiful, finally a fact acknowledged by Tennis Australia, (but probably not Margaret Court).

Hasbeen. You spoke well! And most of the military and ex-military are, were and remain colour blind?
Cheers, Alan.
