Christian Leaders play anti-Israel political games in Jerusalem : Comments

By David Singer, published 30/12/2021

Certainly Israel should meet with these Christian Leaders to address and allay their concerns in relation to threats to the Christian community in Jerusalem.

Why did you deliberately fail to quote the immediately preceding paragraph of the Christian Leaders statement:

"We acknowledge with gratitude the declared commitment of the Israeli government to uphold a safe and secure home for Christians in the Holy Land and to preserve the Christian community as an integral part of the tapestry of the local community. As evidence of this commitment we see the government’s facilitation of the visit of millions of Christian pilgrims to the holy sites of the Holy Land. It is therefore a matter of grave concern when this national commitment is betrayed by the failure of local politicians, officials and law enforcement agencies to curb the activities of radical groups who regularly intimidate local Christians, assault priests and clergy, and desecrate Holy Sites and church properties."

Is this acknowledgement by the Christian leaders too much for you to acknowledge?

Any problems caused by the failure of local politicians, officials and law enforcement agencies in Jerusalem can only be solved by Israel alone working co-operatively with these Christian Leaders - not in a dialogue with "Palestine" and Jordan.

Jordan's record on Jerusalem was appalling when it occupied East Jerusalem between 1948 and 1967:

"Upon its capture by the Arab Legion, the Jewish Quarter of the Old City was destroyed and its residents expelled. Fifty-eight synagogues--some hundreds of years old--were destroyed, their contents looted and desecrated. Some Jewish religious sites were turned into chicken coops or animal stalls. The Jewish cemetery on the Mount of Olives, where Jews had been burying their dead for over 2500 years, was ransacked; graves were desecrated; thousands of tombstones were smashed and used as building material, paving stones or for latrines in Arab Legion army camps. The Intercontinental Hotel was built on top of the cemetery and graves were demolished to make way for a highway to the hotel. The Western Wall became a slum area."

And the Christian Leaders have the temerity to invite Jordan to a dialogue on Jerusalem together with some entity calling itself "Palestine"?

Crawl back under your rock - you anonymous Jew-hater.

Sorry you think my article is meaningless so let me spell it out for you in a few words:

1. Problems in Jerusalem should be discussed and resolved between the Christian Leaders and Israel.

2. Problems in Jordan should be discussed and resolved between the Christian Leaders and Jordan.

3. Problems in "Palestine" should be discussed and resolved between the Christian Leaders and "Palestine".

Why do the Christian Leaders draw attention to the problems existing in the Holy Land - but only call for a dialogue on Jerusalem and nowhere else in the Holy Land - and then not with Israel - the sole responsible authority in Jerusalem - but also with Jordan and "Palestine" who have no jurisdiction there?

Hope you now can understand my article and my analysis that the Christian Leaders were playing overtly anti-Israel political games when they issued their statement.

Why do you find that so difficult to comprehend?

The usual diversionary post from Singer. While we are on the desecration of cemeteries he brings up something that happened 75 years ago while this is happening today.

"The Israeli occupation authority today resumed the destruction of the historic Muslim cemetery of Al-Yusufiya near the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem, the Palestinian Information Centre reported.

Head of the Islamic cemeteries committee Mustafa Abu Zahra said that an Israeli municipal crew escorted by police forces stormed the cemetery and began bulldozing and digging, destroying Palestinian and Arab graves.

He added that several local residents intervened, but police forces expelled them from the yard and prevented them from entering it to protect the graves of their relatives."

Next you have completely failed to acknowledge the 'radical groups' as Jewish. We both know why that is.

Finally your use of the term Jew-hater has become so reflexive now it has zero meaning to anyone who is the subject of it, however in my opinion it so utterly debases the experiences of the Jewish people, especially during the Holocaust, that any person with any respect for what happened would never think to use it in the manner you do.

Indeed the case could well be made by some that you are this site's premier Jew hater by an incredibly large margin and that you should slink away in shame.

Society is defined by it's acts....
Germany is accused of the Holocaust at any convenient political point in time.
Their crime....Imprisoning and killing their social prisoners en masse.
How is Israel different....they don't kill their prisoners on masse, they do so over a period of time in an open air prison called the West Bank and Gaza, always claiming justification, so the world accepts and becomes indifferent to the plight of the Palestinians.
The fact that the UK and US engineered the plight of the Palestinians to the Israelis speaks for itself.
...but things change over time and the acts of the Israelis towards the Palestinians will be remembered more clearly than the 'Holocaust' and without the building of memorials.
The Jews have always run to the vacuous Christians for support against 'those not aligned with it's views' and then claim infringement of sovereignty against them at the first opportunity.
As I said 'society is judged by it's acts, not it claims of justification through entitlement.
To those quick to respond in defending their ignorance and self interest, I was raised and lived as a Catholic....until I saw that the social majority, religious or otherwise, have an agenda which has little to do with humanity and even less than their deity of choice.
