By Teck Lim, published 29/6/2021

The question is can Australia and other Western nations work towards untying the China bell around their neck?

Peter Hartcher reports a top CCP official thinking it is acceptable to threaten an Australian political party with reprisals, and this person represented the "Chinese ethnic population of Australia as a national political asset of China that can be mobilised" by the CCP. Chinese race transcends everything else. "The unity of Chinese at home requires the unity of the sons and daughters of Chinese abroad", according to this thug; and threats to family still in China will ensure this.

Exactly. (ttbn post). And that knowledge will now be treated as the enemy, as will all those with a modicum of intelligence and street-wise sense of dealing with unfriendly foes.
That does not include lazy politicians with priorities of themselves and their own interests, particularly those with interests in China.
What interests and what politicians are those in particular, we all need to know.

Because if not, then the whole sordid lot of them simply snow the field as they do with the rules governing the market manipulation of housing, where nothing changes for the good of the people, due to those vested interests.

We all of us have a need to know who and what are the personal benefits to the political class, what financial ties with China they may have which is reflected in decision making, as they continue to sail the rudderless boat called Australia, onto the reef at midnight!

Excellent summary of relationships between China and the West! You are correct, Lim Teck Ghee, Australia is indeed foolish to be making an enemy of China. We need to take a deep breath and do all we can to resume our once respectful and mutually-rewarding diplomatic and trading relationships as soon as possible. And yes, it will require us to eat some humble pie and demonstrate some true humility. The problem is that rabid anti-Communism runs so deep in this country that rational and objective analysis of anything related to China has become nigh impossible, as is perfectly evidenced already by most of the comments in this little anti-Chinese echo chamber, LEGO's contribution being one of the more extreme examples ... so many glaringly inaccurate, bigoted and sensationalist claims ... honestly, where would you start?

Bronwyn the Antipathous traitor.

Consider yourself fortunate you are not a Christian in the Middle Ages Europe.

You’d have your eyes gouged out as payment for treachery, for those remarks.

Dear Bronwyn,

Words fail me . . . perhaps you think Australia should become like New Zealand is under Comrade Adern and simply let China walk all over us?

As for 'so many glaringly inaccurate, bigoted and sensationalist claims'. . . would you care to name them, exactly?

"Thirdly, in contrast to the rise of China which has been peaceful and within its own borders "

A Civil war , starvation and a cultural Revolution .

How many 10's of Millions died during those occurrences ?
