Byron gets the blues : Comments
By Paul Collits, published 6/4/2021In reality, the 2021 Bluesfest was cancelled mainly because Byron is now an outer suburb of Sydney, and returning Bluesfesters were at risk of becoming 'superspreaders' who re-ignited 'outbreaks' in the state capital.

ttbn, What sectors were they hired for ? To deal with COVID-19 ? Posted by individual, Tuesday, 6 April 2021 12:51:35 PM

The author scraped safely past concerns that really matter in a survival sense viz:
#Try telling that to one of the hundreds, if not thousands, of Byron residents who cannot now afford the rent, who, indeed, cannot find a place to rent. # And why not mention an uncomfortable comparison that exposes the stark hypocrisy of Mafia headquarters/ Property development section, in Macquarie Street. This years Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras in Early March? Not to mention a spontaneous March down Oxford street of between ten thousand or six hundred gay rights supporters; a wildly varying number, depending on which report believed. http://www.9news.com.au/national/lgbtqi-pride-in-protest-march-hundreds-make-their-way-down-sydneys-oxford-street/f9526df2-4310-4331-8b48-6e39640b2be5 Dan Posted by diver dan, Tuesday, 6 April 2021 1:02:51 PM

I have never been able to understand why anyone would go to Byron Bay. It is definitely one of the least attractive bits of the NSW north coast, & the few times I have walked it's streets, the feeling was far from welcoming.
Perhaps it has a good surf brake, I wouldn't know, it is many years since I went surfing, but it would have to be very good to make the place worth visiting. Posted by Hasbeen, Tuesday, 6 April 2021 2:12:48 PM

Hi Hasbeen,
I feel the same way as you about Byron. Whenever I've visited the place I could not see the attraction. There are much more beautiful areas as you point out. However, my elder brother lives in Byron and has done so for decades. He loves it there. His wife is a writer and loves the area and the creativity she finds there. It seems like a very laid-back life style. Their home is close to the beach and quite comfortable. They go walking every morning. So I guess it is a healthy life-style. With all this media-driven hysteria, it would not surprise if the virus-groupthink-driven MPs next act to impose draconian travel/access restrictions on those who have not been vaccinated.
Given that there are virtually zero locally-acquired Covid-19 cases, the unvaccinated would include many aged under 60 prepared to risk catching the virus, particularly as experience shows that they would be more mildly affected, and recover faster, than older people. Raycom, What you really mean is that they're indifferent to spreading the virus ! Posted by individual, Tuesday, 6 April 2021 4:10:12 PM

From my reading individual the vaccine currently being used will not stop people getting the virus, although it is supposed to reduce the severity of the infection.
It also appears that those who get the virus after inoculation, will still probably be ineffective to others. When authorities say probably in this instance you know damn well it definitely will be. About as useful as tits on a bull comes to mind, but of course it has made some very rich folk even richer, so not entirely useless. Posted by Hasbeen, Wednesday, 7 April 2021 1:16:50 AM

Hasbeen it'd be a good thing if those not co-operating could get infected & keel over. It's the fact that they can pass on & thereby multiplying the infections that concerns me.
Anyone found to refuse the jab & then found passing it on should be charged for as much as they have. The longer that goes on the harder it'll be to fight the new strands ! Posted by individual, Wednesday, 7 April 2021 8:08:01 AM

It appears individual you have decided to become one of their useful idiots.
After 3 heart attacks I'd have to be a raving idiot to have anything that might induce clots injected into me. Posted by Hasbeen, Wednesday, 7 April 2021 9:34:20 AM

Hasbeen,
Your bodily system has managed quite well on three occasions without the COVID jab ! Posted by individual, Wednesday, 7 April 2021 10:41:39 AM

Massive misinformation about COVID-19 abounds. For an expose, see American Frontline Doctors (AFLD) article, ‘Experimental vaccines are ‘not safer’ than COVID-19’, https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/frontline-doctors-experimental-vaccines-not-safer-than-covid-19, in turn based on AFLD White Paper On Experimental Vaccines For COVID-19, https://img1.wsimg.com/blobby/go/99d35b02-a5cb-41e6-ad80-a070f8a5ee17/SMDwhitepaper.pdf They observe that: . the vaccines are experimental (biological agents); . it is brand-new technology utilizing messenger RNA (mRNA); . there are no independently published animal studies -- previous coronavirus vaccines developed over decades have consistently failed in animal trials with the death of their subjects; . recipient may become more vulnerable to the virus; . there is no data on sub-categories of the population, including the elderly, women who desire to get pregnant, and those who have had the virus already; . impact on fertility is unknown; . there is no data on long-term effects; . there’s no proof that the experimental vaccines stop transmission of the virus; . COVID-19 kills very rarely and is mostly limited to the medically fragile. In summary, AFLD concluded that the experimental vaccines are “Prohibited for the young (under age 20), Discouraged for the healthy middle-aged (age 20 to 69) and Optional for the co-morbid and elderly.” Posted by Raycom, Wednesday, 7 April 2021 12:57:50 PM

Between March and September of last year, lockdowns forced 607,000 private sector workers out of their jobs, but 19,700 new public servants were hired over the same period. This means that 30 private sector workers lost their job for each new public servant hired. Nothing has changed this year; although there are probably not enough jobs left to replicate those figures.
Australian politicians have slipped so easily into totalitarian 'fear is the key' style of rule (representation no longer exists), and it works. Too many people in Australia like to be told what to do.
They need to know that, once powers are yielded to the state in moments of crisis or emergency, it is very rarely the case that the state hands them back.
