Dear Binoy,
.
There seems little doubt that Captain Ahab (alias Donald the dictator) committed an impeachable offence that should be sanctioned by the Congress. Failing to do so for fear of reprisals would be a grave travesty of justice and set a dangerous precedent.
The integrity of the American institutions must be fully restored, protected and respected at all costs.
In my view, impeachment proceedings should only be aborted on the following conditions :
1. Captain Ahab (alias Donald the dictator) publicly acknowledges his own as well as his lieutenants’ and cohorts’ wrongdoings in instigating the march on the Capitol and fomenting trouble, and presents his excuses to the members of Congress, the families and friends of those persons killed during the uprising, as well as all those who suffered bodily injuries, and the entire nation
2. He acknowledges that his accusations of mass election fraud were totally unfounded
3. He recognizes, without reserve, that Sleepy old Joe won the election
4. He resolves to cooperate actively with Sleepy old Joe to assure a smooth transition
5. He personally assumes the total cost of repairs and expenses of whatever nature due to the insurrection
All the actors in the insurrection – instigators, perpetrators and victims – should fully assume their respective responsibilities, without exception.
The Republican-controlled Senate, in particular, has a very heavy burden of responsibility to assume in the impeachment proceedings – no doubt, a historic responsibility.
