I agree, a Joe Biden presidency definitely promises to be a return, and not a progression.
Biden's voting history clearly demonstrates his corporatist and war-mongering leanings. He will remain every bit as much in thrall to the wealthy elite as was Trump ... the ruling oligarchs donated $1.51 billion to the Biden campaign and $1.57 billion to the Trump campaign ... they knew they had their man, whichever way the result fell.
There will be no universal healthcare under Biden, no Green New Deal, no rapprochement with Russia or China and no hope for America's homeless and working poor. The DNC made sure the progressive candidates who might have delivered on the real change America needs were kept right out of the running.
Biden does at least sound presidential, but will the reality match the hype of his rhetoric? And for how long will he sustain the energy and pace he's managed to project in the last few weeks?
I'm with Binoy on this ... I hold out little hope for real change.

Yup, but only if the Senate is an obstructionist republican senate! Which could change with the outcome of a couple of run-off elections for Senate seats and the vice President having and tie-break vote! Which would be good enough for the next two years!

If a republican controled Senate acts to stymie the President's clear mandate? They will pay at the next Senate/Congressional elections!

And that is not the only price they could pay, with the power of a Presidential veto/executive orders in play?

Gridlock should also apply to their salaries and (frozen) bank accounts etc? And for twice as long as the attempted gridlock!

As long as they are quarantined from the consequences of their decisions, this sort of economic blackmail will prevail and persist! And not their role!

Trump has made several unfounded allegations that simply don't stack up.

And dare one suggest, he is trying to delay the inevitable, due to his own enormous debt burden (billions?) and outstanding unpaid tax liability.

His fair-weather friends are deserting at a rate of knots. And none of his financiers are going to throw good money after bad and go down with him?

In my view, his behaviour and links to alleged Putin/Russian meddling, witness/evidence blocking? Should not allow, I believe, a Presidential pardon to be considered. It's beyond the pale!

The author is obviously under the misunderstanding that the Constitution says the press gets to decide who is president, and that massive electoral fraud is irrelevant.

In any event, the word 'democracy' does not appear in either the Declaration of Independence, nor the Constitution. This is because the Constitution does not, and was not intended to, set up a demoracy.

The Constiuttion sets up a federation of states in a constitutional republic. The USA is not an elective dictatorship voting as one electorate; this fact disposes of the left's entire stupid argument.

The Constitution authorises the state legislatures to appoint electors equal in number to the congress-critters of that state, and it is THEIR votes, not the votes of the people, who determine who is president. There is no requirement for the electors to condition their votes by reference to the votes of people.
