US Election 2020: are the analytics correct? : Comments
By Charles Essery, published 4/11/2020A friend runs bets for a small group of us who are interested in world politics. In 2016, I was a newbie-maverick by forecasting Brexit, the UK Election and worst of all (in friends eyes) the Trump win.

An excellent article with less used statistics.
Meanwhile "2020 presidential election results" Electoral votes as of 8:07pm US ET Nov. 3, 2020 Now has Electoral College "votes" Biden 85 vs Trump 61. See http://www.axios.com/election-results-2020-trump-biden-3a07f4c7-fb4d-4d62-b18b-392ff6f1eeb5.html "We're getting the first results in the presidential election — but no clarity from the battleground states that will determine whether President Trump gets a second term or loses to former Vice President Joe Biden. The latest: The Associated Press has declared Biden the winner in Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Virginia, Vermont and his home state of Delaware. It has called Tennessee, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Alabama, South Carolina, Kentucky and West Virginia for Trump. But the most critical results will come from the battleground states. The polls closed at 7pm ET in the critical swing states of Florida and Georgia." Go Joe! Posted by plantagenet, Wednesday, 4 November 2020 11:37:45 AM

Trump will win in a landslide.
Because. 1. Previously he was a complete outsider without even the support of the Republican Party and he still won. Even former President Bush said he would not vote for Trump. Now he is the sitting President with a solid record of achievement behind him. 2. For four years the US public have been bored to death by the Democrats and their endless games where they have tried to pin something, anything, insidious on Trump and they have failed miserably. Trump was starting to look persecuted by the very forces who despise the "deplorable" white electors. Just like in 2016 the deplorables are thirsting for revenge. 3. The Democrats did nothing about the Antifa, BLM and Cancel Culture brown shirt fascist thugs who were burning police stations, attacking courthouses, looting stores, and intimidating Republican voters. Even staunch democrat voters can see Biden rule an equating to mob rule. And it does not pass notice that all of these riots and arson attacks are happening in Democrat controlled cities. No shop owner in a Republican city need board up their windows. 4. US females have traditionally voted Democrat but women also want strong law and order. The Democrats and their three monkey approach to street fascist violence is beginning to scare them 5. Every single police officer in the USA is going to vote for Trump. 6. It is incredible that the Democrats could put Joe Biden up as a candidate when every voter in the USA can see with their own eyes that the poor guy is in the initial stages of Alzheimer's disease. 7. The recent revelations about Joe's son's computer clearly display the Biden is part of the "swamp" who use political office to line their own pockets. Biden's claim that he did not know what his son was up to and did not profit himself has ben exposed as an outright lie. That the lying fake news outlets tried to suppress the whole sorry tale adds to the already deep mistrust many US citizens have for the left wing press. Let's see the final count when all the postal votes are counted! But for now, let's call it, too close to call!

"Plantagenet" is an insult to that great English dynasty... he should move to NY or LA and live the life of La La land.. What an arrogant plonker, just like most pseudo intellectual elitists!

I had a bet with my brother on a Trump win. My reasoning was that in the most hyper-capitalistic nation on the planet self interest would prevail. I of course hoped I was wrong but the shifts in the country were too hard to ignore. For instance it was just so unlikely that it was going to wear the kind of lockdowns which Victoria has used to tame the outbreaks here. The loss of so called "freedoms" was just too big an ask and Biden posed too great a risk. That is just one example.
It is a toxicity which has lessened the country and will hasten its demise as a world power. That rot set in pre-Trump but has certainly paved the way for a populist like him. Those who celebrate him are also celebrating the dramatic diminishment of the Republic. I'm not sure it has the capacity to ever recover and Australia will have to look elsewhere for support. Dear Alison Jane, Keep your wings close. Posted by SteeleRedux, Wednesday, 4 November 2020 7:48:13 PM
