I suspect the vatican is as corrupt as the Victorian judiciary system. Makes you wonder why an honest man like Pell stays in such a corrupt system.

runner,
You reckon Pell is an honest man. But having been convicted of child sex abuse (or whatever the specific crime was called at the time of his conviction) will leave a question hanging over his head as to whether or not he is an honest man. I think this is one of those things that we need to leave to the historians and sociologists to examine and debate. I'm sure they will eventually come up with a general consensus on whether or not Pell is an honest man. Posted by Mr Opinion, Thursday, 8 October 2020 12:40:43 PM

no Mr O. Regressives will always hold on to lying narratives to justify the unjustifiable. Maybe if newspaper ads were put out asking if anyone had been abused by you that someone might come forward. Pell will face His Maker one day like you and Me. There will be no hiding from truth then. Posted by runner, Thursday, 8 October 2020 12:45:02 PM

runner,
You are making no sense at all. In fact you are behaving like a pseudo-intellectual. Posted by Mr Opinion, Thursday, 8 October 2020 1:38:09 PM

Pell might be heading into dangerous territory if he gets too close to the truth. He would not be the first prelate to die in mysterious circumstances.

VK3AUU,
The Vatican might get rid of him anyway for having been convicted of child sex abuse. Posted by Mr Opinion, Thursday, 8 October 2020 3:38:08 PM

Why oh why does Keith insist on calling the vatican the holy see?
When it is more like a bottomless cesspool. It also provides perfect proof of how power always corrupts those who wield it, and absolute power corrupts absolutely especially if it is justified in the "name of god". Do a search on the topic - the criminal history of the papacy. Posted by Daffy Duck, Thursday, 8 October 2020 5:41:39 PM

runner, there is a blatant regressive posting here and if you would see him? You need only move as far as the nearest mirror?
Agree we will all face final judgement! Would that I could be fly on the wall, when you get yours! Tick, tock, tick, tock. Every second that passes brings that another second closer! Do we, any of us, know just how many of those precious and finite seconds are left? Alan B. Posted by Alan B., Thursday, 8 October 2020 5:45:21 PM

From his years as "Vatican Treasurer" Pell may have sufficient dirt on the finances of fellow Cardinals
who vote in new popes, to be the next Pope. That would be just. Posted by plantagenet, Friday, 9 October 2020 5:50:56 PM

plantagenet,
Pell the next Pope. Please please you're killing me. The last thing the Church wants is to give the title to someone who was convicted of pedophilia and sentenced to prison. What next: Saint Idi Amin? Ted Bundy for God? Posted by Mr Opinion, Friday, 9 October 2020 6:03:16 PM

Mr Mop
But he was never defrocked or even demoted. So he is still officially a "Prince of the Church" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_of_the_Church You should pay homage to him - as you should to all Cardinals and the Pope. By all means kiss their rings. But beware - at the Vatican's Cardinal changeroom - don't bend over for dropped soap. Posted by plantagenet, Friday, 9 October 2020 10:26:37 PM

And the Vatican state/Catholic Church, does not pay tax. Yet has accumulated wealth around the world in business enterprises and valuable real estate!
[And a variable treasure trove!]
And I'd be very surprised if the Vatican didn't collect annual billions from these businesses and residential real estate.
Pell seems to be a gifted forensic accountant? And may get to the bottom of the allegations? And where, if proven, no criminal action can proceed? Perhaps another "suicide"?
The club of rome protects her own! Regardlesss of the crime or serious nature?
As for the victim hanging from a bridge?
Suggest it could have been done easily from a (canal/salvage) barge or some such, equipped with a cherry picker or cargo crane?
