Donald Trump’s lost dream for world energy domination : Comments

By Felix Imonti, published 9/6/2020

Donald Trump has no solution to the crisis in the domestic hydraulic fracturing industry that won't have dire consequences for the economy. The survival of the industry lies in Saudi Arabia.

An acknowledgement that US fracking has peaked could herald unofficial Peak Oil. The world's two billion internal combustion engines will ensure an oil price rebound. Techno-optimists say we will have alternatives but consider that food is grown, harvested, packaged and distributed using oil. Low wage workers can't afford EVs. The aviation industry needs energy dense liquid fuel.

Some commentators suggest the oil price will never get back to the US$150 per barrel of 2008. If so oil may stay modestly priced while a rationing mechanism like high unemployment suppresses demand. At the moment we may be in the calm before the even bigger calm.

Only the effects of a healthy competition then!

But somthing more obvious for uncle Donald to achieve, is the progressive dismantling of unworkable Democracy with a political climate change to a more authoritarian rule, or its back o the Democrats, and the war could be lost again.

Donald Trump has no solution....
So, all of a sudden it is all down to one man to solve the insipid world's problems ?
How about helping Trump instead of sabotaging every tiny move he makes ?
People who have always been against common sense are suddenly demanding that one man overcomes all obstacles & performs wonders ?

While Donald Trump is not my hero!

He has got a couple of things right!

Clean coal is coal that has been properly washed ad scrubbed!

Tha's what clean coal looks like, literally! And appeals to my warped Irish humour! LOL!Hahaha.

He also receives some deserved kudos for lifting a decades-long ban on Thorium R+D!

And allowing/helping the US atomic energy to have a role in that R+D!

This is where our future energy and economic salvation lies not under the Saudi or Siberian bedrock as crude oil!

And I get that the author doesn't get that!? Or that world energy domination is the dream of madmen!

Hi Taswegian

Have faith my son. If Trump wins in November, he can organise greater tension-war in the Middle East (as America does) to boost the world price back to US$150 per barrel.

And this makes American fracked oil "gas" pay again.

A return to American/Saudi energy dominance will also enrich Trump's Russian mates (ie. the Russian oil price rises to $150/barrel) including Putin's personal oil interests.

And everyone, including Trump's personal wealth, is happy.

Aren't they?
