Peak oil is long come and gone.
The fracking system was flawed from the start because of the short life
of fracked wells.
The writing was put very plainly on the wall when the
CEO of Royal Dutch Shell announced That Shell was studying the ways to
exit the oil industry. BP mumbled something similar.
Not to worry Taswegian, the price of electric cars is expected to be
the same as IC cars by 2025. I think that is optimistic.
The reason for the high prices is that industry realises its regular
service work is going to disappear, so they are trying to spin it out.
It is a real problem for the service industry.
An example, a friend bought a new Mitsubishi EV seven years ago.
He has never had it in for service. There is nothing to service.
The first thing some say is "What about the brakes ?"
Well he hardly ever uses them. Regenerative braking !
In the long run the oil industry will be restricted to making plastics.
In the long run the greens will be forced to accept that nuclear
energy is the only possible way ahead.
