Britain has always had a cool global scope. On the other hand, a post-Brexit EU should move its headquarters from Brussels to Aachen cathedral in order to revive the carolingian elements which made europe so amazing.

I think a lot of it is the threat of being culturally overwhelmed. The Brits must have a lingering mistrust of Germany from WW2. They won that now Germany is bigger economically and is trying to call the shots eg Europe must phase out nuclear power. Fear of cultural domination by England also goes for Scotland and Ireland since they are not even part of the European landmass.

But old England's not done yet to paraphrase the Dad's Army song. English is the world's dominant language and London is the world's main tourist destination. As the EU turns in on itself I think Brexit will be seen in retrospect as a good move.

Yes, Britain will go on and remain one of the great liberal democracies.

Aren't we lucky that we rid ourselves of that lunatic Rudd before he entangled us in an an arrangement similar to the EU with Asia. Most people have probably forgotten that he was serious about such a thing.

De Gaulle was right and vindicated! Britain should have continued on the path she was on. pursuing free trade and markest wherever she could.

Was brought undone by the British disease and militant unions and the reason we should, wherever we can, adopt/transition to cooperative capitalism as government-funded and facilitated cooperatives! As they are non-unionise entities that pay better wages and supply far better conditions than any unionised workforce can emulate or duplicate!

Are far and away, the most efficient, productive, private enterprise, free-market business models, ever envisaged. Nonetheless, dismantled by economic illiterates at the behest of idiotic ideological imperatives where and whenever they could?

And assisted in that endeavour by greed motivated quislings in the ranks? Many of who are now demanding price-fixing solutions that were never ever necessary when co-ops managed their produce or enterprises!

Overproduction is what killed sugar along with a failure to understand its future lies in producing ethanol as an alternative fuel! Not assisted by the foreign ownership and supply of all our refined fuel!

And down to some of the most moribund decisions, I believe, by government decision-makers! Driven by obnoxious, patently puerile, ideological (the government has no business in business) imperatives!?

From 2021, the UK will be denying visas to low-skilled workers to block employers' use of imported cheap labour over out of work Brits. I would like to hear Scott Morrison say, "How good is that", and do the same for Australia's unemployed.
